NRL Round 4 Tips
Eels vs Panthers
The Eels are in a tough spot this week, staring down the barrel of a possible 0-4 start to their season, but they’re going up against the reigning champs, the Penrith Panthers. Parramatta’s defence has been leakier than a rusty old bucket, conceding 80 points and 14 tries in just three rounds. On the other hand, Penrith is well-rested after a bye week and has won each of their last six matches after a bye.
Now, let’s talk about the players. Stephen Crichton has been on fire, scoring the first try in Penrith’s last three matches, while Liam Martin has been a try-scoring machine in his previous four away appearances. However, I wouldn’t count out Clinton Gutherson, who has scored a try in three of Parramatta’s last four matches against Penrith, or Maika Sivo, who’s scored at least one try in eight of his last 11 appearances at CommBank Stadium.
So, who’s going to take home the win? As much as it pains me to say it, I think the Panthers are the clear favourites here. They’re rested, on a winning streak, and have the advantage of having beaten the Eels in their last two matches.
The Eels have a lot of work to do if they want to turn their season around, but I don’t think it will happen tonight.
I’m predicting a final score of Penrith 28 and Parramatta 16.
Betting Tip: Panthers
Suggested Bet: Panthers LINE -7.5
Storm vs Wests Tigers
The Melbourne Storm are back at AAMI Park and looking to end their three-match losing streak at home against the Wests Tigers. With the Tigers yet to win a game this season, it’s looking like a tough ask for them to break their losing streak against the mighty Storm.
Melbourne has had a few hiccups lately, allowing six tries last week, but with Cameron Munster returning to the squad, they’ll have that extra spark they need to get the job done. On the other hand, the Tigers are making some changes, and while it might shake things up, it’s hard to see it making enough of a difference against the reigning premiers.
The bookies have got Melbourne as the clear favourites at 1.30, and with the Tigers losing 15 of their last 16 matches, it’s no surprise. However, with the line at (+8.5) for the Tigers, it’s not impossible for them to keep the game close.
Ultimately, I think the Storm will come out on top, but the Tigers won’t go down without a fight.
I’m predicting a final score of Melbourne 32 – Wests Tigers 16. Watch for Xavier Coates and Nick Meaney to get on the score sheet.
Betting Tip: Storm
Suggested Bet: Storm WINNING MARGIN 13+
Dolphins vs Broncos
This is the NRL showdown we’ve all been waiting for! The Dolphins and the Broncos, both undefeated at 3-0, are going head-to-head in a Friday night blockbuster at Suncorp Stadium. The coaches, Kevin Walters and Wayne Bennett are both legends of the game and have five premierships between them.
The Broncos have been dominant in their last nine matches as a favourite in Queensland, while the Dolphins have covered the line in their last three games.
With Ezra Mam scoring in each of Brisbane’s last seven matches as a favourite at Suncorp and Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow delivering for the Dolphins in their last three games, this is going to be an explosive match-up. While the Dolphins are missing Felise Kaufusi due to suspension, Jarrod Wallace’s return will give them a boost.
Realistically, I see the Broncos taking the win with a final score of 28-18. Get ready for a ripper of a game!
Betting Tip: Broncos
Suggested Bet: Broncos WINNING MARGIN 1-12
Cowboys vs Titans
The Cowboys are hosting the Titans at home, and it’s shaping up to be an absolute ripper of a game. The Cowboys have an impressive home record against the Titans, winning 9 out of their last ten games. With the Titans struggling to find form, I’m backing the Cowboys to continue their winning streak.
They should still come out on top despite not covering the line in their last four matches. The Titans have been conceding a lot of points, so expect the Cowboys to take advantage of this and score plenty of points themselves.
I’m predicting a high-scoring game, with the total points going over 43.5.
Final score prediction: Cowboys 30, Titans 18.
Betting Tip: Cowboys
Suggested Bet: Cowboys LINE -7.5
Rabbitohs vs Sea Eagles
Get ready for a showdown, footy fans! It’s the Rabbitohs versus the Sea Eagles at Accor Stadium, and it’s sure to be a ripper of a match. Manly may have lost 12 out of their last 13 games at Accor Stadium, but that doesn’t mean they’ll go down without a fight.
I’m putting my money on the Rabbitohs to take home the win. They’ve won each of their last four matches against Manly by 13+ points, and with their impressive record of covering the line in their last six night matches against Manly, they look set to do it again. Plus, each of the last five games between these teams has gone OVER the total match points line, so we can expect to see some high-scoring action.
It’s gonna be a banger of a match, so make sure you’ve got your coldies on ice.
I’m predicting a final score of South Sydney Rabbitohs 28 and Manly Sea Eagles 18.
Betting Tip: Rabbitohs
Suggested Bet: Rabbitohs HEAD-TO-HEAD
Warriors vs Bulldogs
It’s the Warriors versus the Bulldogs, and it’s looking like it’s going to be a fierce competition! The Warriors have won the last four matchups against the Bulldogs, and they’re looking to continue that streak. Canterbury’s not doing too well lately, failing to cover the line in six of their last eight matches.
The Warriors have been playing some tight matches, with each of their last four going UNDER the total match points line, but I reckon they’ll come out on top in this one. They’re the favourites with Match Betting odds at 1.77, and with a line of just -1.5, I’m confident they’ll cover that easily.
I’m predicting a score of 24-18 in favour of the Warriors, so if you’re looking for a surefire bet, back the New Zealand Warriors to take the win!
Betting Tip: Warriors
Suggested Bet: Warriors WINNING MARGIN 1-12
Knights vs Raiders
Get ready for a showdown when the Newcastle Knights take on the Canberra Raiders. While the Knights have had a rough time at home recently, they’ve managed to cover the line in each of their last five matches against the Raiders. On the other hand, Canberra has seen their last three matches decided by a margin of 6 points or less. This one could be a nail-biter. With nine of Newcastle’s last ten home matches going over the total match points line, I’m expecting a high-scoring game.
The Knights might put up a good fight, but I reckon the Raiders’ experience will be the difference. Put your money on Canberra with a line of -6.5 at 1.90 odds. Get ready for some footy action!
But ultimately, I’m backing the Raiders to come out on top with a final score of 24-16.
Betting Tip: Raiders
Suggested Bet: Raiders WINNING MARGIN 1-12
Dragons vs Sharks
It’s time to get excited about some NRL action. The Cronulla Sharks are taking on St. George Illawarra, and I’ve got a feeling about this one. The Sharks have been on fire lately, covering the line in 12 out of their last 13 matches away from home. And let’s not forget that they’ve won their last five games against St. George Illawarra, so they have the upper hand here.
Now, while the Sharks have been dominating on the field, they haven’t been scoring as many points lately, with each of their last four matches at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium going UNDER the total match points line. But don’t worry; they’ll still come out on top.
The Sharks are sitting at a juicy 1.52 odds to win this match, and with the line set at -5.5, they’ve got a good chance of covering that as well.
As for the final score, I’m predicting 24-12 in favour of the Sharks.
Betting Tip: Sharks
Suggested Bet: Sharks LINE -5.5
