Geelong vs Melbourne

Thursday, June 22, 2023

7:20 PM @ GMHBA Stadium

Ah, footy lovers, we’re in for a treat with the upcoming Geelong vs. Melbourne game. It’s happening on Thursday, 7.40pm at the GMHBA Stadium, and all signs point to it being an intriguing encounter.

Let’s talk teams for a moment. For Geelong, Patrick Dangerfield is unfortunately going to be sitting this one out due to some nasty broken ribs and a bruised lung. On the other hand, Rhys Stanley is set to return to the field, which could add an interesting dynamic to the game. Over on Melbourne’s side, Clayton Oliver is also sidelined due to a hamstring issue and complications from an infection. But, we can look forward to seeing Harrison Petty in action. The Dees also made the decision to leave out Adam Tomlinson and Charlie Spargo for this match.

The game is shaping up to be quite the contest, and even though the pundits over at ESPN are predicting a 20-point victory for Melbourne, I’ve got a slightly different take. I’ve got nothing against Melbourne, they’re a fantastic team, but for this game, I’ve got a hunch that Geelong might just edge out a victory. I’m thinking a nail-biting finish with a scoreline of 86-85 in favour of Geelong.

St Kilda vs Brisbane

Friday, June 23, 2023

7:50 PM @ Marvel Stadium

Alright, footy fans, let’s chat about the upcoming clash between St Kilda and Brisbane. We’re looking at a game that’s all set to have us on the edge of our seats. The Saints have been on a rollercoaster of a season, and boy, aren’t they keen to steady their ship?

They’ve got a few changes in the offing, with Dougal Howard’s spot looking a bit shaky after his performance against Richmond. I mean, who could blame them for considering Cooper Sharman or Tom Highmore as potential defensive reinforcements against Brisbane’s towering forwards?

Now, on the other side of the field, we have the Lions. Hugh McCluggage is set to make a welcome return from concussion protocols – and let’s be honest, who isn’t excited about that? But then, there’s Dayne Zorko – will he pass his calf test with flying colours? We sure hope so! Jarryd Lyons isn’t letting anyone forget about him either, banging the door down with his performances in the VFL. And then we’ve got Tom Fullarton, who could step into Darcy Fort’s shoes after his impressive 2.3 score in the VFL.

So, who’s going to come out on top? I’ve got my money on the Lions. I reckon Brisbane is going to edge it out with a final score of 83-78. You heard it here first, folks! Let’s see how it all pans out on game day.

Sydney vs West Coast

Saturday, June 24, 2023

4:35 PM @ SCG

Let’s be honest, this game isn’t exactly a hard one to pick! My money’s on Sydney, and here’s why. Let’s start with the obvious – injuries. Sydney has a few key players, such as Lance Franklin and Isaac Heeney, down for tests, but even then, their roster is in better shape compared to West Coast, who are dealing with a lengthy injury list, including Jordyn Baker and Shannon Hurn, both out for at least a week.

And then there’s the recent form. Sure, Sydney had its ups and downs, with a mixed bag of results in their last five games. But, hey, who hasn’t? On the other hand, West Coast’s form has been, well, let’s just say less than stellar. I mean, five straight losses? That’s got to be a blow to the old morale.

Looking at the stats, Sydney’s been more prolific with disposals, kicks, and clearances, but West Coast has a slight edge on hit-outs. But let’s face it, in footy, it’s about making those possessions count, and that’s where Sydney’s been shining. Plus, a quick glance at the goal scorers shows Tom Papley of Sydney leading the way with 23 goals. Oscar Allen of West Coast is a close second with 33 goals, but he can’t do it all by himself, can he?

So, the stage is set, the players are warming up, and I’m settled in with a cold one, ready to watch the action unfold. My prediction? Sydney takes the cake with a score of 118-60.

Fremantle vs Essendon

Saturday, June 24, 2023

7:25  PM @ Optus Stadium

Looking at the recent form of both teams, Fremantle started off strong with three consecutive wins, but has been on a bit of a losing streak with two losses in their last two games. Essendon, on the other hand, bounced back from a loss to snag four consecutive victories. In terms of the AFL standings, Fremantle is currently 13th on the ladder, trailing Essendon who sits comfortably in the 6th spot.

But hey, don’t count Fremantle out just yet! Their player J. Amiss is a star on the field, having scored 23 goals this season. That’s quite impressive if you ask me! C. Serong is also in top form, leading the team in disposals and contested possessions.

When it comes to team stats, it’s a bit of a mixed bag. Essendon has an edge in disposals and kicks, but Fremantle isn’t too far behind. Plus, they’re leading in handballs, free kicks, and clearances. It’s also worth noting that Fremantle outpaces Essendon in terms of tackles and hit-outs, showing they aren’t afraid to get physical on the field.

So, who’s gonna come out on top in this match? I gotta say, it’s gonna be a close one. But if I had to make a call, my money’s on Fremantle squeaking out a win with a tight scoreline of 85-81. They might be the underdogs here, but don’t forget, even underdogs have their day! And with the Dockers’ impressive tackling and hit-outs, they might just surprise us all.

Betting Tip: Dockers

Suggest Bet: Fremantle WINNING MARGIN 1-39

Collingwood vs Adelaide

Sunday, June 25, 2023

1:10 PM @ MCG

Collingwood, sitting pretty at second in the AFL Standings, is looking in great form with four wins in the last five games. Their rival, Adelaide, is currently eighth in the standings and boasts a bit of an inconsistent form, with three wins and two losses in the same period.

The Pies’ forward Brody Mihocek, with his 32 goals this season, has been a real game-changer. The Crows’ Taylor Walker, though, ain’t far behind with 38 goals to his name. However, the Pies’ Nick Daicos has been a real star, racking up 429 disposals, much more than the Crows’ Rory Laird’s 366. Tom Mitchell has also been solid for the Pies with 157 contested possessions.

Despite Adelaide’s better performance in hit-outs, Collingwood has managed to get more inside 50s, clearances, and disposals. But hey, footy isn’t just about the stats, is it? It’s about the spirit, the teamwork, the will to win, and the Pies have got plenty of it!

So, who’s going to walk away with the win? Well, the Pies have been playing some top-notch footy recently, and I reckon they just might edge it over the Crows in a close one. I’d say Collingwood 97, Adelaide 75. Close, but no cigar for Adelaide this time!

Betting Tip: Magpies

Gold Coast vs Hawthorn

Sunday, June 25, 2023

4:40 PM @ Metricon Stadium

Let’s look at the upcoming AFL match between the Gold Coast Suns and Hawthorn Hawks. Now, the Suns have had a bit of a tough time recently, with a loss to Carlton that left them feeling a bit blue (See what I did there 😉 ). However, they’re looking at a potential boost with a key defender possibly making a return. The coach, Stuart Dew, he’s keen on a bounce back, and the team’s eager to get back on their home turf after a long stretch away. They’re confidently heading into the weekend, backed by a strong body of work.

On the other side, the Hawks are planning a pre-season camp in Cairns in July, which is not directly related to this game but will likely have the boys a little sidetracked. Key player Changkuoth Jiath also is battling a calf injury and might not be fully fit for the game. Historically, Round 15 has been pretty good for the Hawks, but will this trend continue? Sam Mitchell seems ready to face the Suns and is preparing his team accordingly.

Now, my gut feeling? I reckon the Suns have got this one in the bag. They’ve got the home advantage and a strong desire to bounce back. Expect a victory for the Suns with a score of 95-76.

Betting Tip: Suns
