Magic Round: A Brief History

The Magic Round concept, unique to rugby league, originated in the Super League in 2007 when all 12 teams competed at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.

In 2019, the NRL Magic Round Weekend was launched with support from the Queensland Government, Tourism and Events Queensland, and Brisbane Marketing.

Over 134,000 fans attended the inaugural 2019 Magic Round, held across four days.

Although, unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic led to the event’s cancellation in 2020, it returned with a bang in 2021 and 2022, drawing over 130,000 fans over three days each year.
