Rivalry, a Canadian sports betting company that works in several international markets, has started operating in Australia too. The sports betting provider and media company announced on Monday (May 9) that it will launch its traditional sports betting and online esports wagering service in Australia.

The online betting operator has already started accepting Australian bettors and has even taken its first deposits and bets. The Toronto-based sports betting provider has recently entered the regulated Ontario wagering scene where sports wagering became legal last month.

Licensed and Regulated in NT

Rivalry got the license and approval to operate in Australia by the Northern Territory Racing Commission under the Racing and Betting Act 1983.

Most Australian online bookmakers are licensed and regulated in NT. That allows them to offer their services throughout the whole of Australia, meaning Rivalry’s services will now be available to all Australian bettors.

Focus on Esports Betting

Steven Salz, Rivalry’s CEO and Co-Founder said that he was very excited to bring Rivalry to Australian punters. He claimed that Rivalry took a “different approach” to traditional sportsbooks, adding that they were particularly successful in attracting young Millennial bettors and Gen Z punters.

Salz said that the company was “very eager” to start “innovative activations and campaigns” in Australia which would be part of Rivalry’s plan to “ramp up services” for the rest of 2022.

Rivalry’s CEO singled out the esports and gaming community as the company’s priorities both worldwide and in Australia.

Australian bettors who join Rivalry can bet on traditional sports betting markets but can also place wagers on a wide range of esports titles including, CS:GO, League of Legends, Dota 2, etc.

In addition to the NT license that Rivalry obtained to operate in Australia, the company also has an Isle of Man license that allows it to operate in several international markets and is registered in Ontario too.
