TAB is the new sports betting partner of the National Basketball Association (NBA) in Australia. The Australian bookmaker and the NBA announced that they signed a multi-year partnership which would allow them to give Australian fans and punters a much better sports wagering experience.
The deal that has been signed at a time when the NBA is celebrating its 75th anniversary stipulates that TAB will be featured on NBA’s digital platforms. These include the NBA App, NBA.com, and the NBA Facebook and Twitter accounts created to cater to Australian fans.
TAB will also run the Australian version of the free-to-play NBA Pick’Em, a super-popular prediction game among US NBA fans.
Building on Their Previous Synergies
Under the deal, TAB and the NBA will partner to create a local NBABet Stream version. NBABet Stream is a telecast that focuses on NBA betting and the Australian NBABet Stream variant will be the first one outside the US.
This betting deal is not the first that TAB and the NBA have signed. In 2019, Tabcorp’s Sky Channel got the rights to show NBA TV, the popular official NBA channel that’s on 24/7.
The new and expanded partnership is expected to build on these previously created synergies between the two entities, which would result in an improved experience for NBA fans in Australia.
Improved Basketball Betting Offer
Adam Rytenskild, Tabcorp Wagering & Media Managing Director, said that the NBA is among the leading sports organizations in the world. He added that the league’s popularity in Australia is growing all the time and that that increase in fans is most evident among younger audiences.
According to Tabcorp’s Wagering & Media head, the betting operator always had a strong focus on Racing. With this new partnership, they significantly strengthened their sports betting section.
Scott Levy, NBA Asia Executive Vice President & Managing Director, said that TAB was a company that always innovated and improved its sports betting offer, adding that fan engagement was always a top priority for the wagering operator.
He went on to say that the new NBA season was going to be one of the most exciting to date and that, together with their new partner, they would make it even more thrilling by offering the best possible wagering experience to Australian fans.
The NBA and TAB have also put promoting responsible gambling at the top of their agenda and have pledged to engage in practices that would make sure the integrity of NBA games remains intact.
