Eleven points is a lot of free air for Collingwood
These two can’t separate themselves. The last three meetings: a draw, a 14-point Collingwood win, and a one-point Fremantle victory. History says this is a slug-fest, and the conditions at Adelaide Oval – 14 degrees, strong winds, rain – guarantee it.
Fremantle’s clearance dominance is real and it’s the reason they’re $1.53. But our model sees a dead-heat. The market’s giving Freo 11.5 points of credit they haven’t earned against this opponent. That’s where the value lives.
The wet and windy forecast completely neuters Fremantle’s inside 50 volume advantage. They’re spraying behinds at an alarming rate already – add rain and that conversion problem gets worse, not better.
The risk is Freo’s contested game simply overwhelming Collingwood through the middle. If they dominate the stoppages like they have all year, they can win ugly by enough. It’s possible.
But the books are pricing a comfortable Freo win in conditions that scream low-scoring arm-wrestle. Our model says zero margin. The line says 11.5. That’s not a close call.
Our model has this as a coin flip, so take the Pies and the 11.5 points.
Collingwood with the points is the play. Wet, cold, tight – exactly the kind of game that stays inside two goals.
