This year’s Toyota Premiership AFL Grand Final will have hearts pounding across the nation as the two finalists battle it out at the MCG to see which team will reign as champions of this years AFL season! Here is all the information you will need about the who, what, where, and when for this year’s AFL Grand Final.
This year the AFL Grand Final will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at the MCG, Victoria. Kick-off will begin around 2:30 pm AEST.
There are two main ways to get to the AFL Grand Final which hands down trump the rest, by train, and by tram. In this section, we will cover how to get to the MCG by train and Tram and also information regarding travel by car.
Trains will be flowing all day throughout the AFL Grand Final event to ensure that the tens of thousands of fans will have a smooth and easy ride to and from their destination.
Trains stopping at Jolimont Station (also known as MCG Station) is North of the MCG and offers a nice stroll through Yarra Park to the Ground, to get to Jolimont station use any train from the Central Metro area heading to Hurstbridge or Epping.
If you wish to go to Richmond Station on the South Eastern side of the MCG take the Lilydale, Belgrave, Alamein, Glen Waverley, Dandenong, Pakenham, Cranbourne, Frankston, or Sandringham Lines. Richmond station is typically used by commuters travelling from the southeastern suburbs, with a slightly longer walk to the MCG however allows you to walk past Punt Road Oval bringing you up to the Shane Warne Stand side of the MCG.
Melbourne Trams will be running trams throughout the day directly to the MCG to ensure passenger flow is as smooth as possible.

There is no general parking available for the AFL Grand Final as it is reserved for accessibility and for accredited passholders only, fans with an accessible parking permit may pre-book their parking online here.

This year the AFL Grand Final Parade will be held at the Melbourne Park Live Site with a motorcade heading through Birrarung Maar, then Footy Festival at Yarra Park, before making its final resting spot at Gate 3 of the MCG.
The AFL Grand Final Parade will take place on Friday the 29th of September from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm from Wednesday the 27th to Friday the 29th of September between 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Footy Festival is back once again this September from Wednesday the 27th to Friday the 30th of September.
