Melbourne Storm vs Parramatta Eels Predictions
Thursday, March 5, 2026
8:00pm @ AAMI Park, Melbourne
Final Score Prediction
Storm
Eels
This is the one game on the slate where the data actually points somewhere with a bit of conviction.
The Storm finished 2025 at #1 in the power rankings and went 4-1 in their last five.
The Eels were solid at 3-2, but there’s a significant class gap between these two squads that the end-of-season numbers don’t fully capture.
Still Round 1 though.
Melbourne are Melbourne – they don’t really do slow starts – but I’ve been caught before assuming the Storm just turn it on whenever they feel like it.
Best Bets
Of all the games this weekend, this is the one I feel least uncomfortable putting a line bet on.
The -6.5 at $1.96 is decent odds for a team that’s been the benchmark side in the competition.
That said, I’m not going big. A 20-point win is what the model spits out, but Round 1 has a way of humbling you.
If the Eels come out with some early momentum and the Storm take a quarter to warm up, that line can look tight real quick.
Modest stake, Storm to cover. That’s all I need from this one.
What to Watch
- Storm’s intent early: Melbourne tend to set the tone in the first 20 minutes. If they come out sharp, this could be over as a contest by halftime.
- Eels’ middle: Parramatta’s forward pack will need a big game to keep the Storm honest. If they get pushed around early, the line blows out fast.
- Origin players: Keep an eye on who’s carrying niggles or minutes restrictions from the pre-season. Round 1 load management can skew these results in unpredictable ways.
