Moonee Valley Cox Plate Day is here, the biggest day of the year on the Moonee Valley racing calendar!

Some of the best horses in the world will battle it out for the famous Cox Plate, a 2040m weight-for-age race worth $5 million.

The Cox Plate is a notoriously difficult race to win, with a field of quality horses and a variety of factors that can come into play, such as the track conditions, the weather, and the draw.

However, there are a few horses that stand out as the ones to beat this year (tips below).

We will go through each race for the day and give you our best bets & value tips.

The weather looks fine, and the track will play in the good 4.

Race 1

Strathmore Community Bendigo Bank – Open Handicap. $150k.

#3 TAUNTING

Not a race we are overly keen to bet into but if we had to.

Should be winning.

Unflinching could bounce back after last start.

#2 WISHLOR LASS

If #3 OSMOZE can settle closer, he can pose as a big threat.

He can be forgiven last time out. Must have a saver on if playing.

How to bet on the Cox Plate

There are many different ways to bet on the Cox Plate.

The most popular bet is to win, which is a bet on a horse to finish first.

You can also bet on a horse to place (finish first, second, or third) or show (finish first, second, third, or fourth).

If you are looking for a more exotic bet, you can try a trifecta (picking the first three horses in the correct order) or a quadrella (picking the first four horses in the correct order).

No matter how you choose to bet on the Cox Plate, be sure to do your research and bet responsibly.
