Eight races at Seymour and only three we’re keen on, so it’s a selective card rather than a busy one. Heavy 8 with fine weather overhead, but the ground is still testing and that shapes how we’ve read it. Nothing here we’d call a standout, just three we think are worth a look at the right price. A Long Story Short in the 5 is drawn out wide but the pace looks soft, Zourain gets back in an 8, horse field over 1200m, and $3.60 on Tauto Bar is fair enough if he gets his own way in front.

Gate 10 is the only knock here. #5 A Long Story Short won two back and ran second last start, so he’s coming to hand, and Luke Currie can take his time getting across on heavy ground. The tempo looks soft but he settles close enough to strike. #15 Verifier keeps hitting the placings without winning and still wants $5.50. Not for me. I’d rather have him at $4.20.

The cross-over nose band goes on #3 Zourain, and that’s the hook for me. He’s won a race this prep for Robbie Griffiths and Stephanie Hateley stays on. Take him at $6. #9 Castellito won first-up last start, but $3.50 on a Heavy 8 is short enough.

Soft tempo here and #14 Tauto Bar is one of the few who wants to be forward. He won last start, Jamie Mott stays on, and gate 6 gets him there. $3.60 to win, easy.
