Big fields right through at the Gold Coast under lights, five races with a dozen or more runners, and the card runs the full range from 1000m out to 2200m. Soft 5 with the rail out to the true entire course, so the inside is not the free kick it usually is, and with it sunny overhead the surface should be improving rather than easing. Our Huntress has caught the eye in race 6, a Michael Freedman runner who has won her last two and holds her ground at $6.50. Tony Gollan looks to have the night covered from both ends, Pierata’s Spirit backed in from $1.80 to $1.40 in race 2 and Roguery from $2.70 into $2.15 in race 5, while Cantarito for Chris Waller has come from $6 to $4.60 in race 7 and is worth another look. Selections drop here around 10am race morning once the markets firm.
