Gold Coast Horse Racing Tips Sat 18/7/26
Soft 7 at the Gold Coast and overcast overhead, so the ground has a bit of give in it without being a bog. That takes the sting out of the short ones. Metal Man is a $1.35 chip in Race 2 off the back of the field, and on a track playing fair we’d want more room to trust that price. Only three we’re keen on across the card, and the value’s higher up the market. Vandevelde at $1.85 in the 3 and Davikar at $2.40 in the 5 both sit better in the run. Nothing here we love, just a few worth a look on a soft card.

Genuine speed up front is exactly what a backmarker wants. #1 Metal Man can drop back and pick them off late, and from gate 3 he doesn’t have to go right to the tail to do it. He ran third last time for Kelly Schweida, Wiggins stays on. Short at $1.35, sure, but I’m happy to be with him.

1. Vandevelde $1.85
Barrier 2 · Midfield · Soft pace
No drama taking the short one. #1 Vandevelde has the draw that counts, gate 2, so in a seven-horse field over 1800m he gets the cheap midfield run while Dylan Turner sits and saves ground. Bon Riviere is the danger at $4.80 but he’s out wider with more to do. At $1.85, good enough for me.

3. Davikar $2.40
Barrier 2 · Off Midfield · No leader
Ear muffs on to keep him relaxed, gate 2, and with no genuine leader #3 Davikar gets the cheap midfield run while Adin Thompson picks his spot. At $2.40 he’s short, but the map and the gear have him where I want. Easy.
