NextBet Review | Big Tools, Bold Claims. Does It Stack Up?

NextBet is what happens when someone buys two bookmakers (PlayUp and CrossBet), mashes them together, and relaunches under a new name. If you had a PlayUp account, you’ve already met NextBet. You just might not know it yet.

What makes this one interesting isn’t the rebrand itself. It’s what NextBet is actually trying to do with the product. While most smaller bookmakers are playing catch-up to the big operators, NextBet has gone the other way. They’ve built genuinely unique racing tools that you won’t find anywhere else in Australia, including live mounting yard analysis delivered straight through the app. That’s a bold move.

The catch? They’re missing some features that most punters now consider standard. So it’s a bookmaker doing a few things brilliantly and a few things not at all.

We’re still early days in getting to know the new NextBet, and a more in-depth review is on the way. But we’ve been testing the NextBet app and here’s what we’ve found so far.

NextBet Sign Up

Standard process. Personal details, ID verification, deposit limit. Same as every other Australian bookmaker.

If you’re signing up, use the referral code KRUZEY during registration.

If you previously had a PlayUp or CrossBet account, your details may have carried over to NextBet. Worth checking before creating a new account.

One thing that comes up in user reviews is the verification process. A handful of punters report being asked for additional documentation (bank statements, statutory declarations) after signing up, particularly around their first withdrawal. That’s not unique to NextBet, but it does appear more frequently in their reviews than some other operators. If you get asked, it’s a regulatory requirement, not a trick. Just be prepared in case it happens.

Racing Markets & Form Tools

This is where NextBet genuinely stands out. They’re not just saying “we’re built for racing.” They’ve actually backed it up with tools that no other Australian bookmaker currently offers.

Easy Form is their in-app form guide powered by Racing Central. It uses colour-coded indicators for ratings, distance, map, and tempo, making it quick to size up a field without reading walls of text. It’s well designed and practical.

But the real headline act is Live Yard. This is mounting yard analysis of every runner, delivered right before the jump. It covers fitness, health, movement, behaviour, and attitude. If you’re the type of punter who values how a horse presents on race day (and plenty of experienced racing punters do), this is something you simply can’t get through any other betting app in Australia.

For racing punters, Easy Form and Live Yard together make NextBet worth a serious look. These aren’t gimmicks. They’re proper tools that give you information most other apps don’t.

Sports Betting & Fantasy

NextBet covers a range of sports markets, and they have live betting available, which is worth noting because not every bookmaker offers it.

Here’s where the gaps show though. At the time of our testing, Same Game Multi and Same Race Multi availability was limited, and the cash out feature appeared inconsistent. The PlayUp platform previously offered cash out and SGM on selected markets, so these may be rolling out progressively as NextBet settles in. Worth checking current availability when you sign up, as this is likely to evolve.

What they do have is something different. NextBet is the only Australian betting app with Daily Fantasy built in. You can place your regular racing and sports bets, then jump into daily fantasy contests within the same app. If you’re into both, having it all in one place is a genuine convenience.

For pure sports bettors, the missing features are hard to overlook. But if you’re a racing punter who dabbles in fantasy, the combination is unique.

The NextBet App

The NextBet app has a reasonable rating from a decent sample size:

  • iOS: 4.0 out of 5 (382 ratings)
  • Android: 3.6 out of 5 (87 ratings)

With 382 iOS ratings and 87 on Android, there’s enough data here to get a fair read. The iOS score of 4.0 is solid. The Android 3.6 suggests some rougher edges on that platform.

Users regularly praise the form tools (Easy Form and Live Yard in particular), fast withdrawals, and the variety of markets. The app recently hit version 2.0.0 with the NextBet rebrand, so it’s actively being developed.

There’s no biometric login yet, and no Blackbook. Both would be welcome additions, especially given how racing-focused the platform is.

Customer Support

NextBet advertises 24/7 customer support and has a dedicated help centre at helpcentre.nextbet.com.au. That’s a step ahead of some smaller operators where finding a support contact can feel like a treasure hunt.

User feedback on support is mixed. Some reviewers praise quick issue resolution, while others have had frustrating experiences, particularly around the verification and withdrawal process. That inconsistency is something NextBet will need to smooth out as they grow.

What Other Punters Are Saying

There’s a decent volume of reviews for NextBet (many still referencing the PlayUp days), and the feedback covers a wide range.

The positives come through clearly:

“Super fast withdrawals under a minute even on weekends. Big thumbs up on that as other bookies take your cash in seconds and take days or weeks to payout.”

“Great betting app, loving the new easy form and live yard.”

The negatives tend to focus on verification and withdrawals:

“I had my account for 6 hours. Over 24 hours later they deactivated my account and requested multiple bank statements and a stat dec.”

Verification friction is an industry-wide reality that bookmakers are required to manage under Australian regulations. NextBet does seem to cop more complaints about it than average, which suggests the process could be smoother on their end. But it’s not a sign of anything dodgy. It’s compliance.

Who’s Behind NextBet?

NextBet Pty Ltd acquired both PlayUp and CrossBet in 2026, combining them under the NextBet brand. If you were a PlayUp or CrossBet customer, your account has been migrated across.

The iOS app still lists the developer as “PLAYUP AUSTRALIA PTY LTD,” which tells you the transition is still in progress behind the scenes. That’s normal for a rebrand of this scale.

NextBet is a licensed Australian operator. Unlike some of the other smaller bookmakers we’ve reviewed recently, they’re not running on the BetMakers white-label platform. This is their own technology stack, which explains why the feature set looks different (both the unique tools and the gaps) compared to BetMakers-powered books like CrownBet, BetEstate, and others.

Who Is NextBet Best For?

  • Racing punters who want the best form tools in the market, including Live Yard mounting analysis
  • Fantasy sports fans who want daily fantasy and traditional betting in one app
  • Punters who value fast withdrawals (regularly praised in reviews)
  • Former PlayUp or CrossBet users who are already on the platform

Not ideal if you need a fully featured sports product right now, though SGM and cash out availability may improve as the platform matures.

The Bottom Line

NextBet is a bookmaker with a clear identity. They’ve gone all-in on racing tools, and Easy Form and Live Yard are genuinely best-in-class. The daily fantasy integration is unique in Australia. Fast withdrawals are a real positive. And having live betting sets them apart from several competitors.

The sports feature set is still catching up (SGM and cash out availability may vary), and the verification process could be smoother based on what punters are reporting.

If you’re a racing punter who values form tools over feature checkboxes, NextBet is one of the more interesting options in the market right now. Use the referral code KRUZEY when you sign up, and keep an eye out for our full in-depth review.
