The line’s barely moved but this could get ugly
Geelong have won the last three against the Eagles by an average of 61 points. Last time at Optus – supposedly West Coast’s fortress – Bailey Smith racked up 38 disposals and Cameron kicked four in the last quarter alone.
The value here is the line at -45.5. Our model has this at 47, which is tight, but the underlying numbers say Geelong could blow past it. They’re generating over 11 more inside 50 entries per game and – critically – they’re converting those entries at a higher rate while also dominating marks inside 50. West Coast simply don’t defend the front half.
The risk is the neutral venue. Norwood Oval isn’t GMHBA and wet conditions could compress the scoring. If West Coast turn this into a slow, ugly contested game – and their clearance numbers suggest they can compete at the coalface – the margin tightens.
But Geelong’s uncontested game is a class above. In the wet, that ball movement by hand and foot will still find targets. West Coast leaked 163 to Sydney and 131 to Gold Coast in their two losses. When they’re beaten, they’re smashed. Get on the line.
Geelong by 47 points – they’ve beaten West Coast by 43, 93, and 47 in their last three meetings and nothing suggests that changes here.
Three straight wins over the Eagles by 43, 93, and 47. The books are offering 45.5 like history doesn’t exist. Take the line at $1.90.
