Tigers vs Dragons Prediction

Ben Harris
Updated 17 August 2026

The Dragons are last on the ladder and the market still cannot split these two. Four of the last six between them have gone the Dragons’ way, including this season’s meeting by fourteen, and the Tigers have not beaten them since 2025. That is the case, and I am on the visitors.

The Tigers Have Not Won A Game On This Form Guide. I Am Taking The Team Sitting Last.

The Dragons are not going to blow anyone off the park. They will take the middle, get the kick away from decent field position, and make the Tigers start their sets deep. A side that cannot put points on the board does not get out of that.

The Dragons just knocked over the Sharks

Reports this week have the Dragons arriving full of confidence after beating Cronulla last start, and the official preview calls it a big upset. For a side that has spent the year losing, that result is the one thing on this page I am happy to pay for. Nobody expects them to do it twice, which is exactly why the price is still there.

The Tigers have not won a game on this form guide

Every result on their recent list is a loss, and two of them were hidings. That is a lot of faith to ask for a side the market has as good as level with a team sitting last.

The team lists do not change my mind

St George Illawarra name Damien Cook in the starting side after he was an unused reserve last week, and Toby Couchman comes back onto the bench through concussion protocols. The Tigers hand Solomone Saukuru his first NRL game, in the centres, on Sunday. Nothing in those lists makes me want to come off the under. One side is settled and the other is still finding out.

The bye is the best argument for the Tigers

They have had a fortnight off, they are at their own ground, and their last outing here was a three point loss to the Eels. That is a real case and I am not waving it away. What two weeks on the track does not fix is scoring, and scoring is the problem.

Neither of these sides can score

The market is asking for forty eight points from two of the worst attacks in the competition. The last time these two met they managed thirty four between them. I have this one in the low forties and I want the under.

Tigers vs Dragons Tip

The Dragons by three. At this price I will take the side that defends over the side that cannot score.

Tigers vs Dragons Key Stats

MISSED TACKLES
WST33

STI31

The Dragons hold their edges better than a side sitting last has any right to, and in a game this tight the tackles you do not miss are the margin.
POST CONTACT METRES
WST545

STI558

The Dragons win the ground after contact, and that is how a side scoring this little still wins a tight one: start your sets further up, make them start theirs deep.
POINTS FOR
WST19

STI16

The Tigers scoring more is the honest argument against backing the Dragons, but that figure is the whole year, not the run they are on now, and nothing in the current run says they are about to break out. Neither attack is big enough to threaten this total.

Ben’s Verdict

Dragons to win it and the total to stay low. The risk is real: a rested Tigers side at their own ground, two weeks to prepare, and a three point loss to the Eels here last time out. I am taking the Dragons anyway, because half a point is not a line, and I would rather hold the side that defends than the side that has to find points from somewhere.

Player Prop Predictions

Setu Tu to score a try, $1.94. Over the line last start, and that is a try in four of his last seven. I have the Dragons defending and getting the points at the other end, so $1.94 is just what a steady leg costs.

Valentine Holmes to score a try, $2.35. Back on the scoresheet last start, and there is a two try game sitting in this run as well. Three of his last seven with a try, on the side I have winning it.

Adam Doueihi to score a try, $2.60. He crossed last start and he has doubled up once inside his last five. If Wests Tigers have to chase points against a Dragons side that defends, he is the one who has been finishing them, and $2.60 pays for that.

Wests Tigers vs St George Illawarra Dragons FAQs

Who will win Tigers vs Dragons?

I am tipping the Dragons by three. They have not won much this year, but the Sharks last start and the Tigers earlier this season are two of the ones they have got, which is more than the home side has going for it right now.

What is the best bet in Tigers vs Dragons?

My headline multi at $7.04 takes the straight win with the total and a player prop, Setu Tu Anytime Try. The win leg anchors it this week; the line bet on the card still stands as its own play.

Can the Dragons win away from home?

They have struggled on the road all year and that is the main risk with this one. I still have them winning by three. The multi at $7.04 is the bet I am having, and the head to head on its own at $1.91 is the safer, smaller version of it.

Who is Wests Tigers playing next week?
