Eels vs Cowboys Prediction

Ben Harris
Updated 17 August 2026

Parramatta are out of the finals race. The Cowboys are eighth and climbing. I have North Queensland by six on Saturday evening, which gets them over five and a half. I also have this game a long way short of fifty and a half, and that is the bigger call of the two.

North Queensland To Cover Five And A Half. The Under Fifty And A Half Is The Bet I Want Most.

Eighth against thirteenth. One side is still playing for something, the other is not.

I have the Cowboys by six, so the line is fair. The total is where the real gap is, and that is the one I am leading with.

North Queensland are getting it done without their halfback

The Cowboys are still playing without Tom Dearden, and reports this week credit Jake Clifford and Jaxon Purdue with carrying the attack in his absence. The side that beat the Titans comes back largely intact. Settled and winning is not something Parramatta can say right now.

The total is where the real edge sits

I have this game at thirty eight points and the market wants fifty and a half. That is twelve and a half points of disagreement, against half a point of edge on the line. The under is the bet. The line is the one I take second. Parramatta are the lower scoring side here and their recent games have been tight, low affairs. The Cowboys did ship eighty two to the Roosters a fortnight ago, so it is not free money, but that was one night against a very different attack.

The head to head is real, and I am taking the Cowboys anyway

Parramatta have won the last three, the most recent 33-30. A three point game is not evidence that anyone owns anyone. I cannot point you at some Parramatta trick that keeps working, and I am not going to make one up to sell you a bet. What I can point at is the table. The Cowboys are eighth and chasing a finals spot, the Eels are thirteenth and done.

Parramatta showed last week they will not roll over

The Eels trailed the Rabbitohs 28-0 at half time and came within four points of the biggest comeback in NRL history. A side that does that is not a side that quits. It is why I am not asking the Cowboys for more than a converted try.

Eels vs Cowboys Tip

I have the Cowboys winning by a converted try on Saturday evening, which gets them over a line of five and a half. The under fifty and a half is the stronger bet of the two.

Parramatta do not put points on, and that is the spine of the under.

North Queensland get through the tackle, and a side playing on the front foot decides where the game gets played.

The Eels leak tackles, which is the one thing on this page arguing against my under. It is also why I am happy giving up the five and a half.

Ben’s Verdict

I am not asking the Cowboys for more than a converted try, and I am not expecting much on the scoreboard either way. Take the under fifty and a half at $1.89 first, then the Cowboys at five and a half at $1.87. Odds correct Saturday morning, check your app before you bet.

Player Prop Predictions

Tallyn Da Silva to score a try, $4.00. He crossed last start and that’s two on the bounce, a try in three of his last six. Happy to build the multi around him at $4.00.

Braidon Burns to score a try, $1.69. Two of his last seven games were doubles, and he has a try in three of that run. With North Queensland getting up by a converted try on Saturday evening there’ll be chances at his end, which is why $1.69 is what it is.

Jake Clifford to score a try, $3.25. Scored last start, and that’s a try in three of his last seven. $3.25 is a fair price for a bloke in a side I have winning the game.
