Markets reckon Samaka’s the goods in the third at $3.10 and we’re with them, but a couple of those other Warwick Farm favourites look short to us today. Heavy 8 going, plenty going on past the top of betting, and five more we’re keen on once you look past the obvious.

I’m on Samaka at $3.10. Cross-over nose band on first up for Peter Snowden, Tim Clark rides, and two placings from his only two starts. The favourite has had just the one run for a fourth, so $3.90 is asking a fair bit for what’s barely shorter than my horse.

Where’s the value here? Formal at $6.50. Blinkers go on, second up after running third first time back, and Shannen Llewellyn rides for Nathan Doyle. With genuine speed up front on a Heavy 8, he should get the right run from midfield. The favourite sits even wider in gate 9 and is short enough at $3.90. Have him.
