Soft 5 at Launceston with the rail out 6m the…

Where’s the value on a dry Warwick Farm midweeker? Track’s come up a Soft 5 with fine weather overhead, so this isn’t a wet-track puzzle, it’s a get-the-runner-home question. Funny thing is, all three we like are off-pace types, so we want the speed to do the work up front. That’s no drama in the 6, where 18 of them and a hot tempo should set it up for something running on, and $8 on Three Arrows is the sort of price we keep coming back to. Trapalanda in the 4 is the short one at $3.30 from gate 2, in a race that reads short of a leader. Three worth a look here, no standout, but a tidy little card if the tempo falls our way.
2. Scuro Star $6.00
Barrier 7 · Off Pace · Genuine pace
There’s genuine speed on here, and that’s bad news for the favourite trying to lead. #1 Pin Up Sheila is only $2.50 and has to do all the work up front from gate 3. I’d rather have #2 Scuro Star at $6. He won last start, settles off the speed for Peter Snowden, and the tempo sets up nicely for one coming from back in the field. On him.
4. Trapalanda $3.30
Barrier 2 · Off Pace · No leader
Gear stays on, gate 2, and #4 Trapalanda keeps knocking on the door without quite winning. At $3.30 he gets the easy run while the fav has to weave through from gate 7 back near the tail. I’m on.
15. Three Arrows $8.00
Barrier 9 · Off Pace · Hot pace
$4.20 is short for Airworthy when she has to lead and hold off a hot tempo from gate 4. Give me #15 Three Arrows coming off the speed at $8. Blinkers go on, Tommy Berry rides, and the genuine pace up front sets the race up for his finish. He won a couple before a spell and ran third fresh last start. Happy to take the $8.
