Townsville Horse Racing Tips Mon 22/6/26

$3.40 on Prince Pier in the 2 is the one we keep coming back to at Townsville. He sits just off the speed in a race with no obvious leader, drawn 2, and from there he can pick his moment. The track’s a Soft 5 and they’re racing on a fair deck, so it’s no excuse race, just honest form. Six we like across the card, but Prince Pier is the one we’re keenest on. Swatow at $4.20 in the 4 and Willingale around $4 in the 6 are the others worth a look, both sitting off the pace and both at a price. Where it pays here is taking the ones the market hasn’t quite respected yet.

1. Prince Pier $3.50

Barrier 2 · Off Pace · No leader

#1 Prince Pier is where the value sits against the odds-on fav. He ran second last start and now gets the tongue tie and nose roll on, with gate 2 to save ground. There’s no genuine leader here, so this becomes a get-back-and-run-home affair, and at $3.50 I’d rather have him finishing over the top than take $1.90 on Aye Vee Aitch to do the same job from a similar spot. On Prince Pier.

1. Prince Pier $3.40

Barrier 2 · Off Pace · No leader

Soft track and no genuine leader, which normally helps the on-pacers, but #1 Prince Pier has the late kick to make that work from off the speed. He ran second last start, the nose roll and tongue tie go on, and Ben Kennedy sticks from gate 2. The favourite is $1.90 and settles back too, so I’d rather take $3.40 on the one finishing over the top of them.

8. Swatow $4.20

Barrier 3 · Off Pace · No leader

#8 Swatow won last start and draws the inside in gate 3 with Sean Cormack aboard. There’s no genuine leader, but he closes hard enough that the off-speed run won’t hurt him here. The favourite is $2.80 sitting just in front, and I’d sooner have the stronger finisher at $4.20. I’m on.

8. Swatow $4.20

Barrier 3 · Off Pace · No leader

I’m sticking with #8 Swatow at $4.20. He won last start, draws the rail in gate 3, and closes too hard to be hurt by a race with no genuine leader up front. #4 Rouge Moulin is stuck out wide in gate 6 and has to do more for $2.80. Take Swatow.

Race 6
3:52pm · 1000m · Hcp (55) · 9 runners

5. Willingale $4.40

Barrier 3 · Off Pace · No leader

Tongue tie goes on #5 Willingale, who ran second last start, second-up off a freshen. No genuine leader here, but he finishes hard enough to make the off-speed run pay from gate 3. The favourite’s $2.50 sitting closer off a couple of flat runs, and I’d sooner take $4.40 on the one running home strong. He’s the one.

Race 6
3:52pm · 1000m · Hcp (55) · 9 runners

5. Willingale $4.00

Barrier 3 · Off Pace · No leader

Four bucks for #5 Willingale and I’m happy to be against the short one. He ran second last start, the tongue tie goes on now, and from gate 3 in a no-leader race he comes home late while $2.80 fav Storm Capital has to do the same from further back. Take the bigger price.
