Russian Mint in the 5 was the one that pulled us up when we went through the card, an off-pace type at $3.70 in the Open who should get the race run to suit. They’re racing on a Soft 5 with the weather fine overhead, so the ground isn’t the story here, the maps are. We’ve got four we’re keen on across the eight races, and there’s no standout we want to bang on about, just tips worth a look. Amalfi Amore at $10 in the Winter Cup is the one to keep an eye on if you like a bit of value from midfield.

The favourite’s no good to me at $1.55 in a seven-horse sprint. #6 Exceedingly Brazen won last start, gets the winkers back on, and draws 3 with Tahlia Fenlon aboard. She settles off them, but in a soft-run race she comes home strong and picks them off late. At $5.50, I’m on her each-way.

#3 Bluebird Bay won last start and comes back in the right shape for this. No genuine leader is a worry with a horse that settles back, but Rock The Sunrise sits just as far off them at $4.60, so the fav has the same problem at a shorter quote. Ryan Wiggins stays on from gate 8, and this bloke has the late kick to run over the top of them. At $3.30, on him to win.

Winkers go on #5 Russian Mint and I’m interested. Three wins in his last six, and he swoops late when there’s no leader up front. At $3.70 he’s better value than #6 Tambo’s Justice at $3.20. Take him.

Where’s the value late on the card? #8 Amalfi Amore at $10. Won last start, drawn 3, and with no leader up front she’s got the late kick to pick them off. The $4 fav Kureder maps no better from gate 9 and got beaten first-up. I’m on the overs.
