Quiet one at Townsville today, nine races on the card and just the one we’re keen on. That’s Briginshaw in Race 3, a 1000m dash with fifteen runners and enough early speed to sort them out. He’s drawn 2 and settles midfield, so a hot tempo up front is exactly what he wants. The track’s a Good 4 and racing fine, so no dramas underfoot. One worth a look, the rest of the card we’ll leave alone.

Plenty of speed on up front here, and that’s the sort of race I want #13 Briginshaw dropping into from midfield. He won last start, draws the fence in gate 2, and gets the soft sit while the hot tempo sets it up for something running home late. #2 Esprit Lad, the fav, maps the same way but has to do it from gate 12 at $3.30. Give me the $5.50 and the better draw.
