Taree Horse Racing Tips Tue 23/6/26

Fine day overhead at Taree, but don’t let that fool you, they’re racing on a Heavy 8 and the ground is doing the work. Seven races and we’ve got a view on every one of them. The going means we want horses that can either sit close or handle the wet underfoot, not the ones getting back and hoping. Zouking in Race 5 is the one we keep coming back to. He maps to lead in a race that should be run hot, and at $5.50 on him there’s a bit to like. Plenty to get through here, so pick your spots and let the heavy ground sort a few of them out.

Race 1
12:30pm · 1000m · Mdn Hcp · 10 runners

13. Sweet Marlene $6.50

Barrier 6 · Midfield · Genuine pace

Blinkers on and the nose band comes off first time for #13 Sweet Marlene. She’s been placing without quite winning, and a fresh look in the gear might be what gets her over the line. There’s genuine speed up front, so she gets towed into the race from midfield while they sort out the lead. I’d rather take $6.50 on her than $3.70 on #1 Be Someone. On her each-way.

Race 2
1:05pm · 1400m · Mdn Plate · 12 runners

3. Dancing Tilda $6.00

Barrier 4 · Midfield · No leader

The favourite is short at $2.35 and has to get across from gate 10 right at the tail with no genuine leader to chase. #3 Dancing Tilda sits a much better story from gate 4, can land handy in the run, and keeps finding the placings without putting one away. Give me the $6 and the better draw.

Race 3
1:40pm · 1250m · Mdn Plate · 7 runners

7. Airburst $10.00

Barrier 3 · Midfield · Genuine pace

Ten bucks for #7 Airburst is overs I’ll chase. He placed three times on the bounce before a spell, the winkers go on first-up, and with genuine speed up front he gets towed into it from midfield. Cool Zousain is $1.90 and still hasn’t won one. Not for me at that price.

Race 4
2:15pm · 1600m · Plate (C1) · 10 runners

11. Elite Delight $7.00

Barrier 1 · Backmarker · No leader

#11 Elite Delight draws the rail and settles closer than her backmarker tag suggests, so she lands handy while the others wind up. At $7 against #7 Rose Water at $1.50, a favourite still searching for her first win, the overs are too good to leave out.

Race 5Best Bet
2:55pm · 1000m · Hcp (C1) · 14 runners

3. Zouking $5.50

Barrier 7 · Leader · Hot pace

I’m on #3 Zouking to bowl along out front. He’s got the early dash to cross from gate 7 and control it, while the fav has to wind up from a carpark draw in 12. Red Spector at $4.40 needs the speed to collapse, and on a Heavy 8 that’s a big ask. $5.50, take Zouking to win.

Race 6
3:35pm · 1400m · Hcp (Bm58) · 14 runners

2. Jason Darren $5.50

Barrier 7 · Leader · Hot pace

Where’s the value in race 6? #2 Jason Darren at $5.50. He keeps finding the line without saluting, plenty of seconds lately, and Grace Palmer stays on. #11 Antilopini is the fav but has to motor across from gate 13 at a skinny $4. I’m happy to take the overs and the better draw.

Race 7
4:10pm · 1250m · Hcp (Bm58) · 14 runners

4. Royal Teens $7.00

Barrier 2 · Midfield · Soft pace

Soft pace, so this turns into a midfield grind. #4 Royal Teens settles right where Darn Deadly does, but he draws the rail and pays $7 against the fav’s $5. The Norton bit goes on first time, blinkers stay, and he’s been placing since a win a few starts back. Same map, better price, better gate. I’d rather have him.
