Taree Racecourse horse racing tips and form preview

Taree Horse Racing Tips Thu 9/7/26

Updated 9 July 2026

Grey day at Taree and the track’s copped a proper soaking, rated Heavy 10 before the first. That’s about as wet as it gets, so the pretty form lines go out the window and it’s all about who actually handles the bog. Seven races and we’ve had a look at every one. No horse we’re leaning the whole day on, just a card full of runners at fair prices worth a look. On ground like this the map matters more than the ratings. We want horses who can find a spot without getting caught wide, and we’re happy to take a price on them rather than back into the short ones.

Forecast for Taree, New South Wales · WeatherAPI.com · captured 10:32am Thu 9 Jul
Race 1
12:40pm · 1007m · Mdn Plate · 8 runners

5. Outoftheoffice $5.50

Barrier 3 · Midfield · No leader

No clear leader, midfield trip from gate 3, on a heavy track.

Race 2
1:15pm · 1262m · Mdn Plate · 9 runners

9. Sunny Quarters $4.80

Barrier 1 · Off Pace · No leader

#9 Sunny Quarters. The winkers going on first time is the hook. He has been knocking on the door, running fourth then third, and now gets the gear change from the rail. With no genuine leader, gate 1 lets him push forward and find a spot early rather than get stuck back. The favourite has to do it all from gate 9 at $3. I’ll take $4.80 and the better draw. On him to win.

Race 3
1:50pm · 1007m · Hcp (Bm58) · 9 runners

2. Zouking $3.20

Barrier 4 · Leader · Genuine pace

Genuine speed on offer, but #2 Zouking is the one who’ll use it. He leads from gate 4 over 1007m on a heavy 10, and the favourite has to chase him down from midfield. I’m on at $3.20.

Race 4
2:25pm · 1412m · Hcp (C2) · 7 runners

5. Darn Deadly $6.50

Barrier 1 · Off Pace · No leader

#4 Antilopini at $1.55 is too skinny for me. In a race with no leader, #5 Darn Deadly draws the rail and gets the tongue tie on first up, so he can bowl forward and grab a spot early. At $6.50 with the fav that cramped, I’m on.

Race 5
3:05pm · 1614m · Plate (C1) · 12 runners

4. Send A Telegram $5.50

Barrier 5 · Midfield · No leader

I’m on #4 Send A Telegram at $5.50. With no genuine leader, he can slide forward from gate 5 and grab a spot early, and the winkers go on first time to help him focus. Bonjour Bill’s only $3.50 and has the same run to make from the fence. Give me the extra two bucks.

Race 6
3:40pm · 1614m · Hcp (Bm58) · 9 runners

8. The Comanche $7.50

Barrier 2 · Midfield · No leader

$7.50 for #8 The Comanche is good value against an odds-on favourite. Rose Water is $1.90 and has to come from the same midfield spot, so I’m not taking a quote that short when the map’s no better for her. The Comanche has run second in three of his last five, wears the blinkers and visors, and from gate 2 he settles a touch closer than the fav. Happy to chase the price.

Race 7
4:15pm · 1262m · Hcp (Bm58) · 9 runners

6. Miss Bugatti $7.00

Barrier 5 · Midfield · No leader

Overs are the appeal here. #6 Miss Bugatti won her last start and ran second the time before, so she comes in racing well. With no leader, #5 City Gold Speed has to grind through midfield the same as her, and I won’t take $2.35 on that run when Miss Bugatti gives me $7 from gate 5. She comes home strong late. Take her at $7.
