Randwick Horse Racing Tips Wed 7/10/26
No pure sprints at Randwick, with the card running 1250m…

Full eight-race card at Tamworth and we’ve had a look at every one of them. The track’s a Heavy 8 but the weather’s fine overhead, so we’re racing on ground that’s drying rather than getting worse. That matters when a couple of these fields are jammed, fourteen runners in Race 6 and twelve in Race 7. Plenty going on here, and a few we’re keen on across the day, though nothing we’d stake the house on. It’s a card where the value comes from the price and the map, not from backing every short one. Where the draw and the going line up, that’s where we’re looking.
5. Calzino $4.80
Barrier 5 · Midfield · Soft pace
Tongue tie goes on for the first time and that’s the hook. #5 Calzino settles midfield from gate 5, while the favourite, Lots To Love, has to come from further back at $3.20. Over 2100m on a Heavy 8, I’d rather be the one sitting closer to the speed. Izzy Neale stays on for Scott Singleton, and at $4.80 I’m happy to take him.
4. Scathingly $3.20
Barrier 5 · Off Pace · No leader
#4 Scathingly is the one I want here. The blinkers go on, he draws gate 5, and he’s been placing often enough to be right in this. It’s a no-leader race so he’ll settle back, but the favourite Staccato does the same thing, and Scathingly is the one who knows how to finish off late. Donovan Dillon rides, $3.20, I’m on him.
6. Ordinary Angel $4.00
Barrier 5 · Pace · No leader
No clear leader, pace trip from gate 5, on a heavy track.
4. Oakfield Mars $7.00
Barrier 3 · Midfield · No leader
The favourite’s no good to me at $2.25 from gate 10. Zousanity has to burn petrol just to lead in a no-leader race, and on a heavy track that’s hard work. #4 Oakfield Mars sits one off the fence from gate 3, comes in off a third last start, and the blinkers go on. At $7, I’m with him.
3. Set To Prophet $5.00
Barrier 5 · Pace · No leader
#3 Set To Prophet can bowl along in a no-leader race, and from gate 5 that’s the edge. He’s won his last two. At $5 I’d rather be on the speed than back #7 Dunstall The Gun to reel them in from the back at $2.50.
3. Jagerschnitzel $5.50
Barrier 3 · Leader · Hot pace
$5.50 for #3 Jagerschnitzel is a price I’ll take. There’s genuine speed on, but from gate 3 he can slot in just off it instead of burning up to lead, and the visors come off for the first time with Rory Hutchings aboard. The favourite has to work across from gate 10 at a shorter quote, so I’m on the cheaper spot at the bigger price.
1. Athena’s Treasure $3.60
Barrier 2 · Backmarker · No leader
Where’s the value in the last? #5 Oakfield Utah is $2.60 but has to work across from gate 9 in a race with no genuine leader, and on a heavy track that’s hard graft. #1 Athena’s Treasure sits one off the fence from gate 2, the winkers go on, and Anna Weatherlake rides. I’d sooner take $3.60 for the soft run than $2.60 on one doing it tough. Take him.
10. Demarcate $4.00
Barrier 2 · Midfield · Soft pace
I’m on #10 Demarcate at $4. He won last start, draws the fence at gate 2, and gets a cheap run just off the speed while Cresta Run has to burn it up in front at a shorter quote. Have him.
