Sunshine Coast Horse Racing Tips Sun 2/8/26

Eight races at the Sunshine Coast and we’ve only landed on two of them. Makamae in race 4 and Kaffir Lily in race 8 are the two worth a look. Both of them settle back and both need the race run to suit, so that’s the risk you’re taking. Thin card from us today, but we’d rather have two we like than eight we’re guessing at.

7. Makamae $3.30

Barrier 7 · Off Midfield · No leader

Where’s the value in race 4? #7 Makamae at $3.30. She’s won two of her last five and only missed a place once, and Daniel Moor stays on. Nobody wants to lead here, so a race that goes slow through the middle suits a mare who settles just off them and knows how to finish. #4 Big Ticket Boy is a shorter quote on the back of a run of well-beaten efforts. I’d rather have her.

Race 8
4:57pm · 1600m · Handicap · 11 runners

4. Kaffir Lily $4.40

Barrier 6 · Midfield · Soft pace

They’re both $4.40, so the favourite tag on #10 Naughty Nurse means nothing to me. I’ll take #4 Kaffir Lily, with Stephanie Tierney staying on for Stuart Kendrick and gate 6 no issue over the mile. Same money, and I know which one I want. Done.
