Sandown Horse Racing Tips Wed 15/7/26

Eight races at Sandown and we’ve found something in all of them, so this one reads busy rather than thin. Track’s a Heavy 9 under grey skies, so it pays to be with horses that handle the wet and don’t need much luck from the gate. That thins a few fields out quicker than the market thinks. A couple of the bigger prices are where we’re keen, with $8.50 on Natural Ruler in the 6 and 14 runners. Nothing here we’d call a standout, just a full card with a few we like at the right odds.

Race 1
12:25pm · 1200m · Watch Hcp · 8 runners

1. Commit $4.40

Barrier 8 · Midfield · Soft pace

$2.40 for #3 Judas Tree off a single win? Not for me. Yeah he leads and the soft tempo helps him, but I’ll take the each-way value on #1 Commit at $4.40. He won last start off a freshen-up and knows how to finish off from midfield, so a slow pace doesn’t scare me. Gate 8 is the knock, but at that price on a heavy 9 I’m happy to be with him.

Race 2
1:00pm · 1600m · Mdn Plate · 8 runners

9. Next Tuesday $4.20

Barrier 2 · Midfield · Soft pace

Drawn 2 while the fav’s stuck out in gate 8, and both of them settle midfield, so #9 Next Tuesday gets the cleaner run for half the price. He’s hit the placings three starts running without winning one, Cartwright stays on, and on a heavy 9 that inside draw counts for plenty. The fav’s got the same midfield trip from a worse gate, so I don’t want $2 there. $4.20, I’m with him.

Race 3
1:35pm · 1400m · (Bm74) Hcp · 9 runners

4. Sea Poem $4.00

Barrier 2 · Backmarker · Soft pace

Winkers on for the first time, gate 2, and Craig Williams doesn’t take many bad rides. #4 Sea Poem is back from a spell with a third then a second, so he’s ready to fire. Drawn on the inside he gets the cheap run while the fav sits out in gate 6 at a shorter quote. $4 and I’m all over him.

Race 4
2:10pm · 1000m · (Bm70) Hcp · 8 runners

7. Faraway Dream $3.10

Barrier 4 · Pace · Genuine pace

#7 Faraway Dream is second up and ready to peak. He won two on the bounce earlier in the prep, John Allen stays on, and the genuine speed suits him sitting handy from gate 4. $3.10, I’m on.

Race 5
2:45pm · 1000m · (Bm64) Hcp · 12 runners

8. Our Wynd Chymes $5.50

Barrier 1 · Off Pace · Genuine pace

Genuine speed up front is exactly what a closer wants, and #8 Our Wynd Chymes gets it from the fence. A win and two seconds lately, John Allen aboard, and he’ll run over the top of them late while the fav sits closer at $4.80 and has to hold on. Give me the $5.50.

Race 6
3:20pm · 1800m · (Bm70) Hcp · 12 runners

4. Natural Ruler $8.50

Barrier 4 · Midfield · No leader

The fav’s no gimme at $3.70. Blue Willow has to circle the field from gate 10 in a no-leader race, while #4 Natural Ruler sits closer from gate 4 and can still finish it off. He won a couple back, Dakotah Keane stays on, and $8.50 each-way’s good enough for me.

Race 7
3:55pm · 2400m · (Bm74) Hcp · 10 runners

2. Bluestone $4.00

Barrier 1 · Off Midfield · No leader

Rail draw and no genuine leader, so #2 Bluestone can bowl along handy while the fav has to come across from gate 9. Blinkers on, Cartwright stays, and $4 beats taking $2.90 on Nearco Frod for the same sort of run. I like the setup.

Race 8
4:30pm · 1400m · (Bm78) Hcp · 14 runners

1. He’ll Rip $7.00

Barrier 4 · Off Pace · Hot pace

Where’s the value in race 8? #1 He’ll Rip at $7. Blinkers back on, gate 4, and a hot tempo up front sets him up to swoop late off the speed. The fav’s shorter at $4.20 from a worse gate. Easy call for me.
