Sandown Horse Racing Tips Wed 1/7/26

Dantooine is the one that jumped off the page for me at Sandown, $9 in Race 8 and drawn to roll forward and control his own race. That’s exactly where I want to be on a Heavy 9 with showers about. The on-pace runners look the go right through the card, so I’m keen on the horses that can make their own luck rather than the ones getting back and hoping. Few nice prices going around too if you’re picky about it.

Race 1
12:25pm · 1300m · Fillies Hcp · 6 runners

1. Signed By A Kiss $3.90

Barrier 2 · Backmarker · No leader

No genuine leader here, and #4 Helizangel settles just as far back as mine, so I’m not taking $4 on a horse with one run. #1 Signed By A Kiss drops in from gate 2 with Billy Egan aboard, won a couple back and placed last start. On a Heavy 9 she gets the softer run closer in. $3.90, I’m on her.

Race 2
1:00pm · 1600m · Hcp (Bm64) · 8 runners

3. Beautifully $4.80

Barrier 6 · Leader · Soft pace

Blinkers go on and #3 Beautifully rolls forward in a race with no real speed. Soft tempo, she controls it up front while Off Their Perch has to wind up from a wide gate. At $4.80 against the fav’s $3.10, give me the leader.

Race 3
1:35pm · 1600m · Hcp (Bm70) · 12 runners

4. Perfect Ten $4.50

Barrier 5 · Off Pace · No leader

Four and a half for #4 Perfect Ten is where I’m at. She’s won two of her last three and settles off the speed, but so does the favourite, and Eleanor Dumont sits even deeper at the shorter $4.20. On a heavy 9 with no leader, Perfect Ten is the one who comes home strongest, and Logan Bates stays put.

Race 4
2:10pm · 2400m · Hcp (Bm74) · 11 runners

11. Omamori $10.00

Barrier 8 · Midfield · No leader

Ten bucks in a staying trip where the favourite sits in the same spot? Yes please. #11 Omamori has been placing in most of his recent runs and stays the 2400m well, so on a Heavy 9 he’ll be running on late while Empress Of The Sun does the same job from the same part of the field at $3.30. Lachlan Neindorf stays put. I’ll take the $10 overs.

Race 5
2:45pm · 1300m · Hcp (Bm66) · 12 runners

15. Proven Soul $4.80

Barrier 1 · Off Pace · No leader

Yeah I’m on #15 Proven Soul. She keeps hitting the line, and from the rail on heavy ground she gets the economical run while the fav has to come from out wide in gate 10. At $4.80 she’s charging home late, and she’s the one for me.

Race 6
3:20pm · 1200m · Hcp (Bm70) · 11 runners

11. Jugiong $7.00

Barrier 1 · Backmarker · Soft pace

#11 Jugiong’s peaking at the right time. Won then ran second her last two since the freshen, she draws the rail on a heavy 9, and she swoops home late when that soft speed backs up to her. $7, I’ll have it.

Race 7
3:55pm · 1600m · Hcp (Bm70) · 13 runners

16. Blue Willow $5.00

Barrier 4 · Backmarker · No leader

The fav’s too short for me at $3.50. #3 Dark Simba settles even further back than mine, so that quote’s a pass. #16 Blue Willow gets gate 4, ran third last start, and has the tongue tie on for the Maher yard. At $5, I’ll take him over the short one.

Race 8Best Bet
4:30pm · 1400m · Hcp (Bm74) · 14 runners

11. Dantooine $9.00

Barrier 7 · Pace · Genuine pace

Genuine speed on, and that’s exactly what #11 Dantooine wants. He parks just off it from gate 7 and lets them do the work up front. He’s been in the money nearly every start, a couple of wins in there, so he keeps finding the line. The favourite has to grind from midfield in gate 9, and $3.90 is short for a horse doing the harder yards. $9, I’m on him to win. Best bet.
