Randwick Horse Racing Tips Wed 7/10/26
No pure sprints at Randwick, with the card running 1250m…

Rosehill is a Soft 7 with fine weather overhead, so the track should keep drying out through the day rather than getting worse. The reads we like sit in the middle of the card, and a couple of them shape up with no genuine leader, which makes the map the thing to get right. Aleppo Pine in Race 6 is where it pays for us, at $8.50 from gate 9, and we’re happy to take a price like that in a race with nobody keen to lead. Five we’re keen on across the ten, all of them at overs, so it’s a card where we can be patient and let the better prices come to us.
6. Zounaka $4.60
Barrier 7 · Off Pace · Soft pace
#6 Zounaka is the one I want here. He came back off a spell to win first-up, then backed it with a second, so he’s peaking at the right time. From gate 7 he’ll settle off them, but he knows how to run over the top of them late, and that’s what wins these soft-run 1200s. The favourite #5 Island Dec has to do the same job from the back at $3.10. I’d rather take $4.60 for Zounaka.
5. Sequista $7.00
Barrier 4 · Off Midfield · No leader
$1.70 for #4 Hello Captain in a seven-horse field is short enough for me, especially with no genuine leader and the fav settling back with plenty to do late. #5 Sequista sits a length closer from gate 4, Braith Nock aboard, and he can pick them off late once he balances up. $7, on him.
8. Aleppo Pine $8.50
Barrier 9 · Midfield · No leader
Kerrin McEvoy on for Richard Litt, and at $8.50 that’s the booking I want to be with. #8 Aleppo Pine settles midfield in a race with no genuine leader, but he lets down late and can run over the top of them. The favourite #5 Polyglot sits in the same spot from gate 6, four lengths back with the same problem, and he’s only $2.90. I’ll take the double the price and the stronger finish. Take #8 Aleppo Pine.
7. Midnight Opal $7.50
Barrier 5 · Off Pace · Soft pace
Blinkers back on with Kerrin McEvoy up, and #7 Midnight Opal starts to interest me. The favourite Smashing Time gets it soft in front, but at $2.30 you’re backing a leader to hang on, while this bloke settles off them and knows how to swoop late from gate 5. At $7.50 I’d rather have him.
1. General Salute $7.00
Barrier 1 · Midfield · Hot pace
Genuine speed up top, gate 1, Tim Clark aboard, and a horse who loves picking them off late. That’s the setup #1 General Salute wants. He settles off them from the rail while the $3.20 favourite has to grind through the same tempo from a worse gate. At $7, I’m all over him.
