Soft 5 at Rockhampton with clear sky overhead, so the ground should keep drying through the arvo. That takes a bit of sting out of it and lets the better types run to their form rather than just the mud lovers. Only two we’re keen on across the eight races here, so it’s a thin card for us. Innovader sits off the speed in Race 6 and there’s no obvious leader to chase, which is the shape that can let a $8 chance sneak into it late from gate 3. The other one is Cryoseisms in Race 8, a hot tempo over 1100m, and from a good draw he can wait for it to fall apart up front.

Where’s the value in race 6? #9 Innovader at $8. No genuine leader here, so he’ll be winding up from off the speed, but he knows how to finish off and ran second last start from a good gate down on the inside in 3. The favourite is only $2.35 and settles back with the same problem, so I’d rather take the $8 and let Innovader run over the top of them.

Genuine speed up front, and that’s the setup #7 Cryoseisms wants. He drops in behind them from gate 3, the favourite has to do the donkey work out in front at $2.60, and Cryoseisms gets to come over the top of them late. Three wins from his last four says he’s ready. At $3.80, I’m on him.
