Launceston Horse Racing Tips Fri 16/10/26
Soft 5 at Launceston with the rail out 6m the…

Big Saturday card at Randwick and the ground is a Heavy 9, so we spent the morning hunting for prices rather than backing every short one. The best of that value sits in Race 2, where Concoction can win at $8 with no clear leader to chase. A few of the favourites look plenty short on this ground, so we are happy to take them on. Where it pays for us is the bigger prices, Woodenbridge and Unreal Expectation both look worth a look up top.
10. Woodenbridge $9.00
Barrier 3 · Midfield · Soft pace
Blinkers and a lugging bit both go on first time, and that’s the hook with #10 Woodenbridge. Gate 3 gives him a clean run, Siena Grima’s aboard, and he was placed a couple back before a let-up. I’d rather take $9 on a horse with a genuine gear change than $3.30 on a lightly raced favourite. On heavy ground, that’s the swing I want each-way.
2. Concoction $8.00
Barrier 5 · Off Midfield · No leader
#1 Moon Sweeper’s no good to me at $1.60. #2 Concoction settles in that same midfield spot from gate 5, so the fav gets no soft run to justify the short price. Concoction was second last start with a couple of wins before that, Mollie Fitzgerald sticks, and in a race with no genuine leader I’ll happily take the $8. On heavy ground, he’s the one. Take him.
15. Unreal Expectation $10.00
Barrier 4 · Midfield · Soft pace
At $10, #15 Unreal Expectation is the price I want, not #3 Perfect Justice at $3.50. Gate 4, Mollie Fitzgerald sticks, and he’s been finding the line with a couple of seconds a few starts back. I’m all over him at the price.
5. All Kinds Of Folk $4.40
Barrier 5 · Midfield · Soft pace
#5 All Kinds Of Folk at $4.40 and I’m on him. McEvoy stays put, he settles midfield off gate 5, and the fav sits even further back at a longer price. He came back to run second last start too, so the timing’s right.
4. Prima Bella $3.70
Barrier 3 · Off Pace · Genuine pace
Genuine speed up front, and that’s exactly what #4 Prima Bella wants. She gets back from gate 3 and runs over the top of them late, McEvoy staying put. At $3.70 on a Heavy 9, I’m on.
11. Sly Boots $6.00
Barrier 1 · Midfield · No leader
Gate 1 in a no-leader race, and #11 Sly Boots gets the economical run on the fence while $3.90 Tazima has to cross from gate 8. Rachel King aboard, he settles midfield off the fresh draw, and at $6 I’m with him.
11. Concordia Wind $5.50
Barrier 6 · Off Midfield · Soft pace
#11 Concordia Wind won last start and lines up at $5.50, a shade bigger than the fav Cold Brew. Siena Grima stays on for Waller, he settles midfield off gate 6, and the fav has to do the work up front. Winning form on heavy ground and a better price, I’m on him.
9. Emirate $5.50
Barrier 4 · Backmarker · No leader
#9 Emirate is winning again, two on the bounce, and he keeps the blinkers on for Waller. He gets right back from gate 4, but with no genuine leader up front he’s the one that runs over the top of them late. Reece Jones sticks, $5.50, and that’ll do me.
3. Aye Aye Captain $4.40
Barrier 1 · Midfield · Soft pace
McEvoy stays on #3 Aye Aye Captain, and from gate 1 for Les Bridge he gets the gun run at $4.40. A couple of wins in this prep, a better draw than Swiftie Harriet at $5, and I’m on. Done.
