Port Augusta Racecourse horse racing tips and form preview

Port Augusta Horse Racing Tips Sun 5/7/26

Star Bling jumped out at me first when I went through the card, $9 in the opener for a horse that just needs the speed on to be charging late. The track’s a Good surface at Port Augusta, so no excuses there, and the tempo looks genuine in a few of these. We’ve got four we’re keen on across the day, none of them short enough to scare you off. Nothing here we’d call a standout, but there’s a bit of value to work with if you pick your races.

Race 1
12:33pm · 1200m · (Bm64) Hcp · 7 runners

2. Star Bling $9.00

Barrier 3 · Off Pace · Genuine pace

Genuine speed up front is exactly what I want when I’m backing one to come from off the pace. #2 Star Bling settles back, but the tempo drags him into it, and he’s been knocking on the door with a win in the mix lately. Blinkers stay on and Andrew Stead rides from gate 3. The favourite gets back the same way at $2.45, so I’ll take the $9 on Star Bling instead.

Race 5
3:08pm · 1396m · Hcp (C1) · 10 runners

7. Duck Duck Duck $3.60

Barrier 6 · Off Pace · Genuine pace

#7 Duck Duck Duck keeps finding the line, a second and a third in his last three, and a genuinely run 1396m is exactly the tempo his finish wants. He settles back, sure, but so does the fav, and at $3.60 with Ashlee Stone I’m on the one coming into form.

Race 6
3:48pm · 1600m · Hcp (54) · 11 runners

8. Star Decorum $3.30

Barrier 6 · Off Pace · No leader

Where’s the value over the mile? #8 Star Decorum at $3.30. He won last start and I like the way he finishes; the cross-over nose band keeps him switched on late. Wesley Cave sticks from gate 6, and with no genuine leader he can wind up and run over the top of them. Take him to win.

Race 7
4:28pm · 2300m · Augusta Cup · 12 runners

2. Romans Luck $3.00

Barrier 3 · Midfield · Soft pace

Savatoff’s stuck out in gate 10 with work to do. #2 Romans Luck draws 3, gets the softer midfield run with Stacey Metcalfe, and at $3 I’m on the one saving ground. Take him.
