Quiet little card at Pakenham on the synthetic, seven races and only two we landed on, both of them in Race 5. The crowd will be all over the short ones up top, but the synthetic flattens out a lot of that pace, and that is where I reckon they are getting it wrong. We keep coming back to That’Smoneybrother in the 5. He settles off the speed in a big field of 12, and over 1200m with a soft tempo up front, he gets the run of the race late. The $3.30 is fair, but if you want a swing the $6 for him each way is where it pays.

3. That’Smoneybrother $3.30

Barrier 6 · Off Pace · Soft pace

Blinkers off, Hanoverian nose band on first time, and that gear change is the hook. #3 That’Smoneybrother settles back, but he comes home strong and the soft tempo means no one’s running away from him up front. Back-to-back thirds tell me he’s knocking on the door. The favourite sits closer at $3.60, but I’d rather take $3.30 on the one finishing over the top of them. Have it to win.

3. That’Smoneybrother $6.00

Barrier 6 · Off Pace · Soft pace

The Hanoverian nose band goes on first time, and that gear tweak is the hook on #3 That’Smoneybrother. A soft tempo is the worry for an off-pace runner, but he comes home strong and can pick them off late. Two thirds before the let-up, Stackhouse stays on, and at $6 he’s a better grab than Pravaha at $3.40. I’m on him.
