Northam Horse Racing Tips Thu 3/9/26

The market has race 1 wrong, and that is where we start at Northam. Nobody in that field of 9 wants to lead over 2200m, so it turns into a scramble, and Obscentino at $3.70 is the one who can sit off them and pick his moment. Overcast overhead and no genuine leader is a messy mix, but he handles that better than the horses being backed around him. Race 4 is the other one we are keen on. Cawarra can cross from gate 8 in a field of 8 and dictate a soft speed at $4.80. Two from the seven, and the rest of the card can wait.

Race 1Best Bet
2:47pm · 2200m · Handicap · 9 runners

1. Obscentino $3.70

Barrier 8 · Off Pace · No leader

#3 Major Magnus is $2.45 and he gets back too, so what exactly am I paying for there? Over 2200m with no genuine leader, both of these have to run over the top of them late. #1 Obscentino ran second last start, Sharni Webster stays on, and he does the identical job from gate 8 at $3.70. That’s the one I want, straight out to win.

Race 4
4:37pm · 1100m · Handicap · 8 runners

3. Cawarra $4.80

Barrier 8 · Leader · Soft pace

Not much speed here and #3 Cawarra wants to lead. Natika Riordan has to hustle her over from gate 8, but she’s already won a race this prep and gets a nice time out in front if she lands there. $4.80, and I’m happy to take that risk.
