Newcastle Horse Racing Tips Tue 14/7/26

Quiet one at Newcastle, just two we’re keen on out of the eight. The track’s a Soft 6 and fine overhead, so nothing too tricky underfoot. Both our runners sit off the speed, which is where we reckon the value is while the money keeps piling onto the on-pace types up front. Alnair at $8 over the 2200m looks bigger than he should be, and Roma Green settles back in a race with no clear leader, so the run of it could open up late.

Rain-affected underfoot but dry overhead, so the track should be on the improve through the day.

9. Alnair $8.00

Barrier 2 · Off Pace · Soft pace

#9 Alnair goes in off back-to-back wins and draws the fence from gate 2. It’s a slow-run 2200m, but he’s finishing his races off hard right now and Keagan Latham can time the run from off the speed. The favourite sits midfield too at $3.40, so I’d rather have the horse coming into his best at $8. On him.

Race 8
4:35pm · 1400m · Hcp (Bm64) · 7 runners

7. Roma Green $4.60

Barrier 5 · Off Pace · No leader

$1.45 for #4 Columbus in a no-leader race where he still has to come from midfield? Not for me. #7 Roma Green settles in the same part of the race, but she won her last two before the let-up and Rachel King times these well for Bjorn Baker. At $4.60, she’s the better gamble than taking odds-on on a horse with the same map problem.
