Ossified in the 5 jumped off the page when I went through the Narrandera card. Drawn 2, sits off the pace, and there’s no real leader in the race, so he gets to make his own luck from a tidy spot. Soft 6 with fine weather overhead, nothing weird about the going. Three we’re keen on out of the eight, and Ossified is the one I keep coming back to.

This is a C1, and plenty in here have done more than win once. #5 Caribbean Villa gets gate 3, the blinkers, and a genuine tempo to run at. He’ll be off the speed, but with the leaders going hard, the closers should get their crack. At $7.50 each-way, I’m on Caribbean Villa over the favourite.

Where’s the value in race 7? #5 Altrove at $8.50. Two fourths and a third in his last three says he’s knocking on the door, blinkers on for the first time, Ella Bent in the saddle. The favourite at $3.30 has the same off-pace problem from gate 2. I’d rather take the bigger price with fresh gear and form running up to a win.
