Overcast at Naracoorte and the ground has gone to a Heavy 9, so this is a card that will sort itself out late. Seven races and only one we’re keen on, which tells you plenty about how we read the rest of it. Aquaholic in the last is the one worth a look, drawn 7 in a field of 12 and settling midfield with no genuine leader in the race. At $3.80 he’s short enough that you need the run to go his way, and on heavy going nothing goes exactly to plan. Happy to take him and leave the other six alone.

Bubble cheeker on the off side is the hook here. #6 Aquaholic has been in the finish most of this prep and the flat run last start doesn’t put me off. Nobody wants to lead, so from gate 7 Kayla Crowther can push him forward instead of winding up out the back. #10 Kalosyni settles even further back with the same job to do on a Heavy 9. $3.80 for Aquaholic, I’m on.
