Launceston Horse Racing Tips Fri 16/10/26
Soft 5 at Launceston with the rail out 6m the…

Plenty of these races have no clear leader, and on a Heavy 8 at Murray Bridge the market still keeps backing the short ones like they’ll control it. They won’t. Wet ground and a messy pace map hand it to the horse that gets the run, not the one on top of betting. That’s why a few we like sit at a price, and that’s where we’re keen. We went through the whole card, and the value is down the market, not at the top of it.
1. Bel Ragazzo $6.50
Barrier 4 · Off Pace · No leader
Visors on for the first time is the hook here. #1 Bel Ragazzo keeps knocking on the door, plenty of seconds and thirds without saluting, and the new gear can wake him up. No genuine leader is a worry for an off-pace horse, but he finishes his races off strong and should run over the top of them late. At $6.50 I’d rather him than take $2.40 on #14 Word Game. On him.
2. Lalor $3.20
Barrier 4 · Midfield · Hot pace
Hot speed up front is the story here. #2 Lalor settles midfield off it, and with the leaders set to cook each other on a Heavy 8, he’s the one running over the top of them late. Todd Pannell stays on, blinkers back on again, and at $3.20 I’d sooner have him than the fav trying to hold on from in front. Take him.
8. Fiabesca $6.50
Barrier 7 · Off Pace · No leader
$1.55 for #2 Orlova is too short here. She sits off the speed in a no-leader race, and #8 Fiabesca does the same from gate 7, only at $6.50. Ran third last start, Brooke King stays on. I’m with her at the bigger price.
5. Longer Route $8.00
Barrier 3 · Midfield · Soft pace
Over 1800m on heavy ground, I’d sooner be the horse that maps closer. #5 Longer Route draws gate 3 and settles midfield, while #7 Peta’s Heart has to come from the back at $4.60 and round them up. Blinkers go on, Will Price stays, and at $8 there’s plenty of room to be right. Happy to take the better map.
14. Suit Of Wands $8.50
Barrier 7 · Midfield · No leader
Keeps hitting the frame without saluting, and now the tongue tie goes back on. #14 Suit Of Wands is $8.50, with two thirds from his last three, and the 1800m gives him time to wind into it. I like the swing at that price.
9. Maxildo $3.40
Barrier 5 · Leader · Soft pace
#9 Maxildo gets to bowl along in front from gate 5, and with no real speed to pressure him on a Heavy 8, an easy lead makes him hard to run down. A win and a couple of placings in recent starts, tongue tie stays on. At $3.40 I’d rather the horse controlling it than the fav having to chase from midfield. On him.
4. Ginger Sinner $10.00
Barrier 5 · Midfield · Genuine pace
Ten bucks on #4 Ginger Sinner and I don’t need much to go right. Won last start, draws 5, and settles midfield where the genuine speed up front sets up for a strong finish. The fav #6 Like A Drifter is off them from gate 9 at $1.65, so I’m happy to swing at the overs.
4. Brimarvi Rosemarie $4.50
Barrier 4 · Backmarker · No leader
Where’s the value in race 8? #4 Brimarvi Rosemarie at $4.50. Won last start, blinkers stay on, and Jason Holder can time his run to pick them off late. I’m on.
9. Orthies $6.00
Barrier 7 · Pace · No leader
The favourite leaves me cold at $4.40. #6 Riche D’Amour has to come from the back on a Heavy 8, and I won’t take that price. #9 Orthies pushes forward from gate 7, and in a no-leader race he can pinch a cheap, uncontested lead. A couple of seconds in recent runs, Jason Holder up, $6 and he’s the one for me.
