Cranbourne Horse Racing Tips Fri 9/10/26
Nine races at Cranbourne and we're only keen on one,…

Heavy 8 at Morphettville, and the going’s the whole story today. Overcast overhead and they’re racing deep on the heavy, testing ground that turns the form around for anything that wants it dry. So we’ve been through the card chasing horses that handle the wet and sit right in the market. Six worth a look across the nine races, no standout among them, just a meeting where the track does the sorting.
3. Hot Too Go $2.40
Barrier 6 · Pace · Soft pace
Soft tempo over 2250m and #3 Hot Too Go can sit right on the speed from gate 6, which is where you want to be on a Heavy 8. He ran second last start, third-up now for Danny O’Brien, and Alysha Warren stays aboard. Placo will roll forward from the rail, but I’m happy tracking him and pouncing late. $2.40 is short, yet he’s the one I trust here.
3. Golden Horizon $5.50
Barrier 8 · Midfield · Soft pace
$2.80 for #6 Polunin, a leader with only two starts, is too short for me. The soft speed does suit the horse out in front, so #3 Golden Horizon has to settle midfield and run over the top of them, and gate 8 is against him. But Connor Murtagh keeps the ride for Travis Doudle, and $5.50 is a much better gamble than backing odds-on. Risk is he can’t quicken on a Heavy 8. Live with it.
2. Tapinforpar $5.50
Barrier 1 · Backmarker · No leader
Blinkers and tongue tie on, and #2 Tapinforpar draws the rail in a race with no genuine leader. From gate 1 he can save ground and land closer than you’d think, while the favourite Speedtail settles even further back and has to do it at $5. Same query, better draw, bigger price. I’m happy with him at $5.50; he’s the one for me.
11. Cielao $4.20
Barrier 2 · Off Pace · Soft pace
#11 Cielao. Todd Pannell sticks with Hickmott and that’s plenty for me. From gate 2 he gets a cheap run and knows how to pick them off late. The fav’s a backmarker too at $2.70, so I’d sooner have the $4.20 on the one with the softer trip. Easy.
7. Brevitas $2.60
Barrier 10 · Backmarker · Hot pace
They’ll tear along up front, and that’s exactly the race #7 Brevitas wants from back in the field. Shivouac has to lead and hang on at $6.50, a big ask with this much speed on. Brevitas won two back and ran second last start, so he’s ready to peak for Phillip Stokes. Gate 10 is the only knock, and the hot tempo covers it. Happy to be with the fav at $2.60.
1. Omaha Dawn $4.80
Barrier 9 · Midfield · Genuine pace
Yeah, I like #1 Omaha Dawn here. He’s won his last two, and a genuine tempo up front is exactly what a midfielder wants to run at. Gate 9 means a touch of work early, but Jason Holder can slot in and let him pick them off late. The fav Daisydoo sits at $3.80 from the rail, and I’d sooner have the $4.80 on the one hitting the line hardest. Playing him to win.
