Morphettville Horse Racing Tips Sat 6/6/26

5 June 2026

Full card at Morphettville today, nine races and we’re keen on something in every one. Track’s a Heavy 8 but the weather’s fine overhead, so the going should hold up rather than get worse as the day rolls on. Bardigrub in the 3 is the one we like most, drawn 1 and likely to bowl along in front. Plenty going on across the rest of the day, a few of them priced bigger than they should be on a wet track.

Race 1
1250m · Hcp (Bm66) · 7 runners

7. Tweeter $5.50

Barrier 3 · Leader · Soft pace

Winkers first time and he gets the front end to himself. #7 Tweeter draws gate 3, there’s no genuine speed against him, and Tala Hutchinson can roll forward and dictate from the jump. He’s coming off a third last start so the profile’s there. The favourite at $1.60 has to find a way through from midfield in a seven-horse field on a Heavy 8, which is the query. I’m with Tweeter at $5.50.

Race 2
1250m · Mdn Plate · 11 runners

11. Australia Forever $3.90

Barrier 4 · Backmarker · No leader

No thanks to $3.30 about the fav from gate 10 in a no-leader sprint. #11 Australia Forever gets gate 4, lands much closer, and returns off two placings. $3.90, easy.

6. Bardigrub $3.20

Barrier 1 · Leader · Soft pace

#6 Bardigrub from gate 1 in a soft-pace sprint. He’s first up but the prep before the spell had a win and a couple of seconds in it, so he comes back fit enough for me. He gets to roll forward, use the fence, and dictate the tempo. Norheim is the $3.70 fav from gate 5 and settles off them, so he’s giving up the jump and the better run. At $3.20, take the leader.

Race 4
2400m · Hcp (Bm78) · 8 runners

9. Harsh $5.00

Barrier 7 · Midfield · Soft pace

I’m on #9 Harsh at $5. Two seconds and a third from his last four and he settles midfield from gate 7. The fav sits in the same spot from gate 5 for $3.90 over 2400m on a Heavy 8, so I’d rather take the overs.

Race 5
1000m · Hcp (Bm70) · 9 runners

9. Omaha Dawn $5.00

Barrier 6 · Midfield · Soft pace

Why pay $4 about the fav in a soft-pace race when he settles off them from gate 8? #9 Omaha Dawn does the same job from gate 6 at $5, has placed in two of his last three, and Jason Holder rides for Gluyas. I know which one I want at the bigger price.

Race 6
1400m · Hcp (Bm68) · 11 runners

5. Nicish $4.60

Barrier 1 · Off Midfield · No leader

$4.60 about #5 Nicish from gate 1 stacks up better than $5 about the fav from gate 6. No genuine leader in a Heavy 8 sprint, Harry Grace gets him forward off the fence, and Phillip Stokes knows how to land one in these. Take him.

Race 7
1550m · Hcp (Bm76) · 10 runners

3. Yam $4.50

Barrier 5 · Off Pace · Genuine pace

#3 Yam, $4.50. He’s back from a freshen with a win and a second already. Genuine speed in front means he can settle off them from gate 5 and run over the top late. Rochelle Milnes rides for Weeding. Placo is on the speed from gate 9 and has to burn petrol to find a spot, and $4.60 about him for the harder run is no edge against $4.50 about Yam getting the kinder ride. All over him.

Race 8
1250m · Hcp (Bm84) · 11 runners

4. Lingani $3.40

Barrier 3 · Off Midfield · Soft pace

Yeah I’m on #4 Lingani here. He just ran second and gets gate 3, with Brooke King to settle him midfield against soft early speed. The fav comes in at $3.20 with the same problem from gate 2, he settles even further back and has to find his way through 11 runners on a Heavy 8. I don’t see the edge in taking the shorter price about a horse with a worse run. Lingani at $3.40, yes please.

Race 9
1000m · Hcp (Bm62) · 13 runners

7. Heaven Rocks $9.00

Barrier 8 · Off Pace · Soft pace

Heavy 8, 1000m, and a $9 quote about a horse who finishes off late. That’s worth a swing. #7 Heaven Rocks goes second-up for the Jollys with the cross-over nose band staying on, and Harry Grace can settle him cold from gate 8. The fav So Polite has to grind out a wet 1000m alone in front from gate 3 at $5.50, which I’m not paying. Have him.
