Moe Horse Racing Tips Thu 18/6/26

Midweek country at Moe, eight races and the whole card reads wet. The going is a Heavy 9 with plenty of cloud about, so they’re slogging through testing ground all day. That sort of deck rewards horses that can finish off, not the ones that burn early. Rose Velvet in Race 8 is the one we love at $3.60. She drops in off the back, the pace looks genuine ahead of her, and on this ground that’s exactly the run you want. Few others we’re keen on through the card, but that’s where the value is.

Race 1
1:00pm · 1614m · Mdn Plate · 12 runners

12. Queen Victorious $10.00

Barrier 3 · Off Midfield · Soft pace

Cross-over nose band and tongue tie both go on first time, and that’s the angle on #12 Queen Victorious. She draws gate 3 and ran third a couple back before her freshen. #9 Always Free is the worry at $2.50, but he settles even further back from gate 11, so I won’t take that short on a horse with the same problem. At $10, I’m on her each-way.

Race 2
1:30pm · 1208m · Mdn Plate · 10 runners

2. Barossa Bourbon $10.00

Barrier 1 · Off Midfield · No leader

Gate 1 is the whole story on #2 Barossa Bourbon. He saves ground on the fence while #6 Foxsky has to come across from gate 7 on a heavy track at just $2.70. Ear muffs go on, he ran on for third last start, and at $10 he’s the better gamble. On him.

Race 3
2:00pm · 1208m · Mdn Plate · 12 runners

9. Viperstrike $9.50

Barrier 7 · Pace · No leader

The $1.75 favourite has to swoop from gate 12 on a heavy track in a race with no leader. #9 Viperstrike sits on the speed instead, tongue tie on first time, and he ran third last start. $9.50, I’m with him.

Race 4
2:30pm · 1008m · Mdn Plate · 11 runners

11. My Bonnie Lassie $4.60

Barrier 5 · Backmarker · No leader

Two bucks for #1 Blue Humma from gate 11 on a heavy track? Not for me. Blinkers go on first time for #11 My Bonnie Lassie, she ran second a few back, and from gate 5 she saves plenty of ground while the favourite has the same back-of-the-field trouble out wide. At $4.60 I’m happy to take her.

Race 5
3:00pm · 1008m · Hcp (Bm56) · 11 runners

5. Game Plan $6.50

Barrier 2 · Midfield · Soft pace

#5 Game Plan at $6.50, gate 2, and he’s the one for me. He saves ground in this 1008m scramble while #10 Remember Poppy has to cross from gate 11 at $3.60 to use her speed. Happy to take the overs.

Race 6
3:30pm · 1208m · Hcp (Bm62) · 10 runners

6. Anglesea $5.00

Barrier 9 · Pace · No leader

Won last start, second the run before, and now #6 Anglesea bowls along up front with no genuine leader to worry him. #9 Russian Front has to chase from midfield at $3. Take him at $5.

Race 7
4:00pm · 1208m · Hcp (Bm62) · 10 runners

10. She Daresthe Devil $6.50

Barrier 1 · Off Midfield · No leader

I’m with #10 She Daresthe Devil here. She’s racing well, a win and a couple of thirds in her last few, and from gate 1 she saves ground while the $2.70 favourite has to work through from further back in a race with no clear leader. The Heavy 9 won’t bother her. At $6.50 she’s the better gamble.

Race 8Best Bet
4:30pm · 1614m · Hcp (Bm56) · 13 runners

3. Rose Velvet $3.60

Barrier 1 · Backmarker · Genuine pace

#3 Rose Velvet won her latest off a freshen and lands on the rail from gate 1. With genuine speed up front for her to run over the top of, $3.60 is good enough for me.
