Randwick Horse Racing Tips Wed 7/10/26
No pure sprints at Randwick, with the card running 1250m…

Soft 5 at Mackay and the weather’s fine, so this isn’t a wet-track puzzle, the ground’s just got a bit of give in it. That takes the sting out of the pace and lets the on-pace and midfield types roll through their gears, which is where a few we like today are drawn to sit. We went right through the card and landed on five, with Sigiriya Rock in Race 8 the one we keep coming back to at $7.50. He maps to get the run of the race from midfield, and at that price he’s worth a look against a couple of shorter ones we can leave alone.
6. Innovader $3.70
Barrier 1 · Off Pace · No leader
#6 Innovader draws the fence at $3.70 while the favourite sits at $2.20 from a wider gate. There’s no genuine leader here, so a horse that settles back needs to finish over the top of them, and Innovader can do that late off the freshen. Winkers go on, Ashley Butler rides, and he gives us the better price for the same off-pace map. I’m on him.
3. Journalism $5.50
Barrier 3 · Midfield · Soft pace
Blinkers go on and that’s the hook I want. #3 Journalism won two on the bounce then kept hitting the placings, and Adam Sewell has him drawn 3. The soft tempo is the query for a horse settling midfield, but the favourite sits just as far back at $2.50, so I’m not taking the short one with the same problem. $5.50 and I’m happy to take him.
2. Batemans Bay $4.20
Barrier 2 · Midfield · Soft pace
#5 Eclipsion is stuck out in gate 7 and still no better than $4.80, so I’m happy to be against the fav. #2 Batemans Bay draws the fence at barrier 2, gets the tongue tie on for the first time, and maps just as close for a touch under at $4.20. Better gate, same midfield run, I know which one I like.
4. Obligated $9.50
Barrier 1 · Off Pace · Soft pace
$9.50 for #4 Obligated is the kind of overs I chase. He draws the rail off the speed, the nose band comes off this time, and he can run over the top of them late while the fav does it tougher from gate 7. Too good to leave out.
2. Sigiriya Rock $7.50
Barrier 6 · Midfield · Genuine pace
Plenty of speed on and the favourite has to do the work up front. $3 for #12 Line ‘Em Up Loui to lead this lot is short enough for me. #2 Sigiriya Rock comes back off a win and a run of placings, settles midfield, and runs over the top of them at $7.50. I’m on.
