Good track at Longreach and the weather’s staying fine, so there’s no wet-track excuse to throw the form out today. That makes it a clean read, and on a clean read we’re only keen on one. Victory Bay in Race 7 is the horse we like, drawn 8 over 1400m with no real leader in the race, and at $9 there’s a price worth taking if he gets the gaps. The rest of the card can wait. One we like, and we’re happy to leave it there.

The blinkers going on is the angle I want. #2 Victory Bay has been finding the placings nearly every start lately, and the gear should help him build into a no-leader race like this. From gate 8 he can creep closer than usual and run over the top of them late. The favourite, Little Cointreau, has to do all the work in front at $4, and I’d rather take $9 on the one coming home strong. Have it to win.
