Where’s the value at Ipswich today? Four races caught our eye, and none of them shout best bet, so we’re happy to spread it around. The track’s a Soft 5 with fine weather overhead, so it should ride fair without being a worry. A couple of pace questions to sort through, with Big Tech off the speed in Race 3 and Boomshanka rolling forward late in the day, and that’s where we keep coming back to $8 for Boomshanka. Honest card, a few we like, nothing we’re going overboard on.

#5 Big Tech is racing into form, a win and a placing in his last three, and over 2150m on a soft 5 he gets to wind up late. No genuine leader means it could get muddling, but he knows how to run over the top of them. The favourite has to do the same job from a similar spot at $4.40. I’ll take Big Tech at $6.

Blinkers go on #9 Vixenette and that’s the hook for me. She maps midfield off a second last start, and over 1350m with Daniel Moor up she gets her chance to wind up. Gambino sits in the same spot at $3, so I’m not taking the short one when the value’s next door. $4.20, on her.

#1 Everybody Rise won the last two, but $3.50 from gate 9 means doing it all from off the pace again. #2 Adranos is the same money, draws better at gate 7, and keeps finding the line from midfield. Take the better run at $3.40.

Metal Man’s no good to me at $1.80. #13 Boomshanka rolls forward from gate 7 with the blinkers on for the first time, Bella Youngberry up for Tony Gollan. He’s run third and fourth his last two, so he’s knocking on the door. I’d rather have the speed at $8 than take odds-on for the fav coming from midfield.
