Ipswich Horse Racing Tips Wed 8/7/26

Midweek Ipswich, eight on the card and six we’re keen on, so a fair bit to like here. Track’s a Soft 5 after the wet, but it’s fine overhead now and they’ll race on decent ground. The thing that jumps out is the pace. Nobody wants to lead in most of these, and the runners we’ve landed on all settle back and finish off, so we want them getting the right run. Prices sit from around the $3 mark up to $7.50, so there’s a bit of value in the back half if the tempo falls our way.

Forecast for Ipswich, Queensland · WeatherAPI.com · captured 10:30am Wed 8 Jul
Race 1
12:29pm · 1200m · Mdn Plate · 9 runners

9. Silent Thinker $3.00

Barrier 8 · Off Pace · No leader

#9 Silent Thinker ran third on debut and looks ready to build on it. There’s no genuine leader here, so it could get muddling up front, but he settles off them and knows how to finish off over 1200m. Ben Thompson stays on for Matthew Dunn, and from the wide gate he can slide across and pick them off late. At $3, I’m on him.

Race 2
1:04pm · 1200m · Mdn Plate · 8 runners

8. Listen Jani $3.50

Barrier 8 · Off Pace · No leader

The favourite’s too short for me at $2.40. #8 Listen Jani ran second coming off a spell, gets the ear muffs on, and Leah Martyn rides for Tony Gollan. No genuine leader means she settles off them, but she knows how to run over the top of them late. At $3.50, I’m having her over Extreme Taste.

Race 5
2:49pm · 1700m · Plate (C1) · 11 runners

10. Hard As Brok $7.00

Barrier 3 · Off Pace · Soft pace

#10 Hard As Brok drops into a nice low gate with the blinkers on. He’s been building, a third then a second in his last two, and over 1700m he keeps finishing his races off strong. The favourite’s $2.70 and drawn wider, so I’d rather take the $7 on the one coming through late. Overs.

Race 6
3:24pm · 1200m · Schweppes Hcp · 6 runners

10. Carbonara $7.50

Barrier 1 · Off Pace · No leader

$7.50 for #10 Carbonara looks a fair bit of value here. He draws the rail, while the $1.90 fav Moshulu Spirit sits back off the same no-leader tempo from a wider gate. Blinkers and ear muffs on, Cejay Graham stays put, and from the fence he saves ground to run over the top of them late. Happy to be with him.

Race 7
3:59pm · 1200m · Hcp (Bm65) · 10 runners

12. Chantilly $6.00

Barrier 9 · Off Pace · No leader

I’m on #12 Chantilly at $6. Blinkers and tongue tie go on, she won last start for Tony Gollan, and even from the wide gate she quickens late once they muddle up front. Petite Palace sits in the same off-pace spot at $3.30, so I’ll take the bigger price on the one finishing hardest.

Race 8
4:38pm · 1350m · Plate (C4) · 9 runners

4. Pareto $4.60

Barrier 9 · Off Pace · No leader

Where’s the value in race 8? #4 Pareto at $4.60. He keeps hitting the placings with a win thrown in lately, and from the wide gate he lets down late once this no-leader race muddles up front. I’d rather have him than the $3.30 fav.
