Ipswich Racecourse horse racing tips and form preview

Ipswich Horse Racing Tips Wed 2/9/26

Fine day at Ipswich and a Soft 5 that should dry out rather than get worse, so the form holds up here. Eight races, four we’re keen on, and the ones we like are mostly sitting off the speed and getting a run at them late. Sweet Pretender in Race 5 is the one we keep coming back to at $8.50, drawn 8 in a field of 12 over 1700m with a genuine tempo in front of her. That’s the sort of race where a horse can settle midfield, get cover, and still be there at the top of the straight. The rest of the card is thinner, so we’ve picked our spots rather than chased every race.

3. Mishani Extreme $4.80

Barrier 8 · Off Midfield · Soft pace

#5 Whispering Rogue is $3.10 and he still hasn’t won this time in, just filling the placings. Too short for me. #3 Mishani Extreme won first up this preparation and has been in the finish every start since, and Olivia Kendal rides. Gate 8 is the knock, he’ll have to work across or take a sit, and the favourite gets his own way in front. At $4.80 I’ll wear that. On him.

5. Wounder $4.00

Barrier 5 · Off Midfield · No leader

Give me #5 Wounder at $4. Blinkers on, Emily Lang stays for Chris Waller, and she won two starts back before running second last time. No genuine leader here, so from gate 5 she’ll be handier than #2 Possibilities, who’s $2.70 and settles further back than she does.

11. Sweet Pretender $8.50

Barrier 8 · Midfield · Genuine pace

Where’s the value in this one? #11 Sweet Pretender at $8.50. She’s been second four times in her last six, and with genuine speed up front she gets something to chase from midfield. $2.80 for #6 Cantarito, giving them a start from the back, is no thanks. Have her.

Race 7
4:13pm · 1350m · Handicap · 10 runners

3. Ready For Aimee $2.35

Barrier 8 · Pace · No leader

There’s no genuine leader in this, so #3 Ready For Aimee can push forward from gate 8 and control it. She won last start for Tony Gollan and Bella Youngberry stays on. Happy to take $2.35, and it’s to win, not each-way.
