Only two we’re keen on at Illawarra Grange, so where’s the value on a quiet card? The track’s a Good 4 and the weather’s fine, so no excuses in the ground today. Ouragan draws the fence in Race 5 at around $4, and she looks the sort worth a look from a good gate. Capture Me is a short one in Race 6 at $1.16, so there’s no price to chase there. The rest of the card can wait.

6. Ouragan $4.00

Barrier 1 · Midfield · No leader

Ouragan draws the rail and with no genuine leader up front she can bounce out and grab a good spot early from gate 1. #6 Ouragan has placed at two of her last three, the winkers stay on, and Andrew Calder’s aboard. #1 Agraffe Rocket has to go and find that same spot from gate 3 at $2.30. I’d rather have the rail and the $4.

1. Capture Me $1.16

Barrier 2 · Off Pace · Hot pace

Normally I leave a $1.16 shot alone, but the speed on up front changes it. #1 Capture Me settles back off a hot tempo, and that’s exactly the run he wants, coming over the top of them late. Chad Schofield rides for Joseph Pride, he’s placed at both his last two, and from gate 2 he gets an easy trip. Have him.
