Caulfield Horse Racing Tips Sat 10/10/26
Caulfield runs a staying card, from 1100m out to 2400m,…

Soft 5 at Hobart and the prices are the story today, three we’re keen on and they all sit right around the same mark. Lyco Reco is $4.40 in the opener, Valley Star $4.60 in Race 5, and Kakia $4.50 in the last. None of them are short, none of them are roughies, they’re the sort of prices where you feel like you’re getting paid to be right. It’s a soft card rather than a standout, so we’re not overloading it. Where’s the value? Spread across those three, and that suits us fine.
5. Lyco Reco $4.40
Barrier 1 · Off Pace · Soft pace
#5 Lyco Reco draws the rail while the favourite has to come from gate 5. Over 2100m on a soft track, that inside run matters. He ran second last start and gets in at $4.40. #6 Them’s The Breaks settles off the speed with the same problem, so I’m not taking $2.05 there. I’m with Lyco Reco.
4. Valley Star $4.60
Barrier 7 · Midfield · Genuine pace
The favourite’s no good to me here. #10 Momentslikethese is $1.65 from gate 11, and that’s a wide draw to overcome for an odds-on quote. #4 Valley Star sits midfield with genuine speed to run at, comes in off a win and a second from his last two, and Kirra-Lee Lane rides for Leanne Gaffney. At $4.60 I get the better run and the better price. On him.
5. Kakia $4.50
Barrier 5 · Off Pace · No leader
Tongue tie goes on and #5 Kakia comes to hand second-up. She won before the let-up, then ran fourth fresh, so this looks her race. No genuine leader means she has to finish it off, and she can. Maskiell rides from gate 5, and at $4.50 I’d rather have her than the $3.80 fav. Take her each-way.
