Fine day at Hawkesbury and a Soft 5 underfoot, so the ground is only mildly against them and last-start heavy form needs a second look. Four we’re keen on across the seven races, and none of them is a standout, so treat this as a spread rather than a knockout blow. Race 1 is where it starts, Pierro Lad drawn on the rail in a small field of 7 with the tempo shaping soft. Rapid Revenue at $2.20 is the short one, but he has to come from the back off gate 9, and a slow speed does not help that. If you want a price, Galactic Force at $11 in race 4 is the one worth a look. No obvious leader in that race, and from midfield he can be running on while the rest sort out who wants to do the work.

#2 Pierro Lad gets the rail, #1 Grafton Street doesn’t, and with only seven of them and no real speed on, that matters. Grafton Street is first-up off a win and they still want $2.70. Pierro Lad won last start coming back from his let-up, Keagan Latham stays on for Maher, and the pair settle in much the same spot anyway. I’d rather have the one drawn inside at $3.

I’m on #5 Rapid Revenue at $2.20, short as that is. Blinkers on for Tommy Berry, and he comes home hard, which is exactly what you need when there’s no real speed to chase in front. Gate 9 is the only knock.

Where’s the value in race 4? #3 Galactic Force at $11. Nobody wants to lead, and #1 Waerea settles even further back than he does at $1.20. The cross-over nose band goes on, Magorrian rides, and he only needs one clear crack at them. Have him.
