Gundagai Horse Racing Tips Sat 27/6/26

Heavy 10 at Gundagai, so they’re racing on a proper bog out there today. Fine overhead, but that ground is doing the talking and it makes how they get through the going the whole story. Six races and we’ve found something in all of them, mostly midfield types we want sitting off a soft speed rather than the on-pace runners getting bogged down up front. No standout, just a handful worth a look at fair prices, from Larkin in the opener through to National Asset in the last. On tracks like this we lean to the ones that handle the wet and have the gate to find a spot, and that’s where the value is for us.

Forecast for Gundagai, New South Wales · WeatherAPI.com · captured 10:31am Sat 27 Jun
Race 1
12:21pm · 1180m · Mdn Plate · 6 runners

2. Larkin $3.80

Barrier 3 · Midfield · No leader

Blinkers go on here and that’s the hook. #2 Larkin draws the inside at gate 3 with Caine Stuart up, while #5 Cascata Spritz is $1.95 with only a couple of starts behind him and still has to come from gate 6. On a Heavy 10 with no genuine leader, I’d rather take $3.80 on the horse closer to the fence than odds-on for one still finding his feet. Larkin’s the better gamble at the price.

Race 2
12:56pm · 1700m · Hcp (Bm50) · 8 runners

3. Sunroe $4.40

Barrier 8 · Off Pace · Soft pace

$4.40 for #3 Sunroe is the price I’m chasing here. He settles back but knows how to finish off, and in a slow-run race that late kick is what matters. The wide gate over 1700m is the worry, but the favourite at $3.70 has to come from off the speed as well, so I won’t take the short one. I’m with Sunroe.

Race 3
1:31pm · 1000m · Mdn Hcp · 11 runners

3. Eighteen Months $5.50

Barrier 6 · Leader · Soft pace

I’m on #3 Eighteen Months at $5.50. There’s no genuine speed in this one, and from gate 6 he can bounce across and find the front in a heavy 10 sprint. He gets the tongue tie on for the first time too. The $5 favourite has to run him down from off the map, and I’d rather be on the horse making the running than chasing it.

Race 4
2:10pm · 1000m · Hcp (Bm50) · 10 runners

2. Densetsu $4.80

Barrier 9 · Midfield · Genuine pace

There’s proper speed up front, and that sets it up for #2 Densetsu to come over the top from midfield. The favourite’s $3.30 and settles even deeper, so give me the $4.80 with a recent win in the bag.

Race 5
2:50pm · 1100m · Hcp (C1) · 9 runners

12. Perfectly Good $6.00

Barrier 2 · Midfield · Soft pace

The favourite’s no good to me at $3.60. It settles midfield with the same map problem, just at a shorter quote. #12 Perfectly Good gets the tongue tie on first time, draws the fence at gate 2, and pays $6. On him.

Race 6
3:26pm · 1400m · Hcp (Bm50) · 12 runners

5. National Asset $5.50

Barrier 2 · Off Midfield · No leader

Fourth first-up, now #5 National Asset is fitter second-up from gate 2. He keeps finding the line, which is what you want with no genuine leader here. At $5.50, with the favourite settling deeper, I’m on.
