Grafton Horse Racing Tips Sun 5/7/26

Where’s the value at Grafton today? It’s a Soft 5 with fine weather overhead, so the ground’s on the easy side, not a bog. We’ve landed on four across the eight races, and they’re all worth a look rather than one we’re leaning on hard. Permission Granted is the short one at $3.10 in race 7, while Voracious at $10 in race 6 is the one for anyone chasing a bigger price.

Race 4
1:40pm · 1115m · Hcp (C3) · 12 runners

14. The Torque Xpress $5.50

Barrier 1 · Off Midfield · No leader

In a race with no genuine leader, the draw wins it. #14 The Torque Xpress has the rail from gate 1 and settles closer than most of them, while the favourite Somerton Smart has to find a spot from gate 8 and sits further back. Won a couple through his last prep and Jett Newman rides for Matthew Dunn. I’d rather have the $5.50 and the softer run than take $3.70 on one giving up ground early. On him.

Race 6
2:55pm · 1190m · Carlton Cup · 15 runners

2. Voracious $10.00

Barrier 2 · Midfield · Genuine pace

Ten bucks for #2 Voracious? I’m taking that. He keeps winning, draws inside at gate 2, and with genuine speed up front he can settle midfield and come over the top of them late. The favourite’s no good to me at $2.05 with the same midfield map from a worse gate. Jai Williams stays on. At the price, easy.

Race 7
3:35pm · 1215m · Hcp (C1) · 12 runners

1. Permission Granted $3.10

Barrier 3 · Pace · Soft pace

#1 Permission Granted gets to bowl along from gate 3, and in a soft-run race that’s the spot to be. Jake Bayliss stays on for Matthew Dunn, and he was placed only a couple of runs back. The favourite Red Chick has to run him down from gate 11 with nothing on up front to chase, and that’s a tough job. At $3.10, I’m all over him.

Race 8
4:15pm · 1215m · Hcp (C1) · 11 runners

2. Meadowbrook $4.60

Barrier 5 · Midfield · Genuine pace

Ear muffs and the tongue control on for #2 Meadowbrook, and from gate 5 he gets the sweet midfield run with genuine speed up front to aim at. The favourite Red Spector maps in the same spot from gate 9 and there’s no value in $2.90 for that. I’m on the $4.60.
